Are they adding amazingly fun/cool features via the wii u's gamepad controller?
I would hope so. Even if the graphics are subpar, I imagine the WiiU will offer the best gameplay experience, if they can execute well. Big if there though..
Multiplayer Detailshttp://gematsu.com/2013/06/watch-dog...layer-detailedMultiplayer in Watch Dogs is a bit like multiplayer in Dark Souls.
Other players can hack and install a virus to your in-game smartphone at any time. When this happens, you’ll be alerted with an on-screen message and virus installation percentage. As it increases, you must use your smartphone’s Profiler app to find the hacker.
Hackers appear in your game as regular NPCs. Though the person playing the hacker is actually Aiden Pearce in their game. With the Profile app, you’ll be able scan areas to pinpoint the hacker’s location. For a wider scanning range, you could hack a camera, too.
When you’ve located the hacker, you’ll need to take him out to stop the virus installation. Ubisoft hasn’t exactly detailed what this virus will do, if installed. But a virus is a virus!
Multiplayer can be completely switched off, if players would rather not deal with hackers. If enabled, it will automatically disable itself during missions.

That sounds silly and unwanted unless it confers nice bonuses in some way.
I think it sounds fantastic. I wonder if the host gets an announcement when they're invaded. Or if there is a time limit on how long you stay in someone's world. Imagine unknowingly being stalked for 30 minutes, the person just waiting to fuck with you.
I like the concept. Would be nice if more people adopted the demon's souls multiplayer model of invade/summon.
Ubisoft has the two games coming out that I am most hyped for by far =/
My initial knee-jerk was to think that this would be a real nuisance and waste of time, but on second-thought, it does add more realism to your game. AI hackers can always be beaten by a simple reload of the checkpoint, but adding some unpredictability like this will make the city much more realistic.
I hope they also add more traditional multiplayer modes; team-based objectives would be interesting.
Can't wait for this game! Hope they will give us a surprise and give an early release. :X
http://wearedata.watchdogs.com/Today, Ubisoft announced the launch of Watch Dogs' WeareData, an experiential website designed to gather and graph the publicly available data that govern people’s lives in a single location. WeareData is initially available for the cities of Berlin, London and Paris.
In Watch Dogs, the highly anticipated open world action game from Ubisoft, the fictionalized city of Chicago is run by a Central Operating System, linking all of the city’s online infrastructures and public security installations to one centralized hub. Information is at the heart of the game and also at the heart of WeareData.
With WeareData, visitors will discover that much of the hyper-connected world imagined in Watch Dogs already is a reality, and that everything and everyone is truly connected. The amount of and potential uses for public and personal information that is readily available online has never been more relevant, as evidenced by today’s headlines. WeareData is designed to provide a glimpse into this reality and to give visitors a new perspective on the cities in which they live.
Watch Dogs' WeareData allows users to access the real-time data that organize and help run the cities of Berlin, London and Paris, as well current information on their inhabitants. Via a 3D mapping system, the consolidated, openly available information that can be easily viewed includes public transport schedules such as subways and public bicycles, telecommunications networks including mobile antennas, WiFi spots and advertising networks, energy consumption, traffic and safety infrastructure like CCTV cameras and traffic lights and regionalized socioeconomic data such as average net income, unemployment rate and crime rate. Also available are geo-localized social media activities for the cities’ residents, including their public posts on Facebook, Foursquare, Instagram and Twitter.
