No. Once you turn it in it's gone.

Best place to read up on crafting in general, looking for an all in one type guide or an up to date Armorer guide, any suggestions?

For any craft, I would suggest the following:

- Use Mooglebox to look at a list of recipes by level.

- Pick a recipe 3~5 levels above you that is the most simple or affordable. Something that sells well or can be used in later synths is a good idea too.

- Equip any "advance progress" abilities you might have. 70% worth of progress advancement is generally very safe. 50% or so should suffice as you learn your limits. If you're lacking these, you can also throw in some abilities that recover durability to get a few extra turns in.

- Equip a "Brand of [element]" ability that matches your recipe's crystal(s) if you can.

- Use nothing but Careful Synthesis until you are at 10 or less durability. If you're unstable at the end, you may want to end it at 20~25 durability. Just make sure that you safely get past the progress threshold where your abilities can ride you the rest of the way to 100%.

- Finish off the synthesis with your "advance progress" abilities.

- Get buttloads of EXP for high Quality gains.

- Sprinkle in some local levequests 4~5 levels above you when get access to them. (I wish I knew of a decent database for leves.)

^ Awesome, thank you. Local leves are a lot more varied then regional it seems, been doing any that pop up in my level range but thats sporadic at best.

Is there a cap on how high quality can go on a synth? What is a good number to shoot for? For leve quests I normally finish around 160-170 in quality.

Finding local leves at the appropriate level can be really annoying depending on the craft. I have yet to find a very reliable chunk of them for Armorer (which is only 36 at the moment). If you know of one that is perfect for you and it didn't show up again after completing it, all you gotta' do is finish any other leve (any type, battle/field/local/GC) or wait for the scheduled leve allowance as it will refresh all of your available leves across the board.

Thanks to Hamlet and Atomos, teleporting out to camps to deliver goods is not an issue anymore, so it has become a lot easier to make use of the leves that require delivery. I used to stock up on every local leve I could that was of a decent level, complete them all, and only turn in the one that was in-town. If that one in-town leve didn't pop back up at the counter, I would finish one of the ones at the nearest camp, and drop back in to check at the leve counter again. Rinse & repeat.

I don't know exactly what the Quality cap might be, but but I don't think you can actually hit it, especially during skill-ups.

For example, on a very low level synth at Lv.50, spamming nothing but Careful Synthesis, you'll see your Quality gains for great successes go from 50~65ish taper down by about 2/3rds by the time your Progress hits about 90. You'll still gain Quality, but it seems to only get really weak if your gains are hitting the 300~400 Quality mark.

Quality cap is 1000 but it's not relevant to leves or leveling in general. You're only going to reach it using HQ materials on lesser level synths.

There's no number to shoot for, more quality is more exp, get as much as possible with the abilities at your disposal. As mio said tho there is a deterioration in gains after you've gained ~400 quality during a synth, but again not relevant to exping as you won't be gaining that much quality on a synth of appropriate leveling difficulty.

Anyone know if we'll be able to change servers at the start of V2? I know they're opening new ones for new players and they'll be locked out, but will current players be able to select current worlds or are we stuck where we are now?
