If anything, the MF stat is "smart" from the longevity standpoint as you basically get people farming two sets of gear (pewpew and MF) instead of just one. If you're super anal, the MF gear will ideally not be a giant performance hit, but I know in my case, I'm giving up a lot of VIT and damage potential when I swap.

Didn't think of setting up MF scripts.. that's a damn good idea. Going to get this working later lol.

1 stack only 20% of your TOTAL MF is used.

This would fix a lot of shit.
I think something akin to this sounds pretty good; I completely missed this post yesterday

And yet the rate at which gear drops is not part of the combat mechanic. That's the point. Gear should make you better at what your class does and MF doesn't do that at all. MF should be a reward for killing difficult mobs efficiently, not something you collect in an alt set and swap with macros. Fuck that 2003 design philosophy.

Magic Find is indeed garbage and adds nothing to the game outside encouraging cheating (gear-swap scripts) and bogging down already-small inventories. Ideally, in any RPG-ish genre, you gear up for what a raid/event as a whole will throw at you and not for split-second situations. If you can afford swapping down to crap gear for an entire fight just for higher loot odds, go for it. That should be the decision presented to players.

I would welcome the mechanic of locking out gear any changing when you have aggro.

If you want to be this obtuse I don't know if I even want to bother debating with you. First you ignore the fact that the only reason you enter combat is to get drops and then you use people cheating with autoit scripts as the basis for your stance.

People who switch gear in don't get any mf for pots/racks/white mobs anyway, and we all know that's what the majority of legendaries drop from (lol).

wtb non-plebs who know how to use mf gear that doesn't suck.

That being said, I'm all for something that makes equip swaps for mf not work. Preferably something that doesn't ruin equip swaps for non-mf reasons. Perhaps somehow make it so that enemies roll with the lowest mf used against them at any point in the battle?

Do you even know what 'combat mechanics' means? It doesn't mean 'the dice that roll after the mob dies.'

Still waiting for someone to write and post/pm that MF script

I'm assuming it's possible to write a different script to change gears for life regen/life hit etc?

there's a thread on reddit where some guy posted a working MF swap script. don't know if you wanna use something that's so publicly out there though when it's believed the blizz devs were reading the thread.

don't really know if that's dangerous.
