Grabbed update and pulled the .tmp2 files out.

Drag the contents of the zip into C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix and when you login it should only need to download 1-2 files then it will use the .tmp2 files to install the rest.

Lol, even the download of these files is going slow. Also, someone just said to me that this doesn't work for EU client? Please tell me he's wrong.

I get a 1500+ file download with Mafai's and Kaces's I get an error on unzipping and still have a 1500+ file download

2 people having issues with EU client makes me think it might not work, but then again people could be unzipping it wrong? This worked for me on 3 PC's, and 3-4 LS mates.

Mine has the Final Fantasy XI folder within it, so you should extract it to one of the following locations:

64 bit users - C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix
32 bit users - C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix
People who install to a custom location should know where.

Re-extract the files to the location and remove the following files before running the check:
file.txt.tmp2
FTABLE.DAT.tmp2
patch.sin.tmp2
patch.txt.tmp2
VTABLE.DAT.tmp2

Not 100% on if this will work but I remember doing something like this before way back when because a patch didn't work.

Yup, the EU and US DAT files are identical; I can't say the same for the JP client though since I've never used.

I am EU and used Kaces' download and worked fine. was left with 4 files to download (slowly due to hammerage)

No one has listed the Steam folders yet so here goes :
64 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI
32 - C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI

Stupid question I guess, but if I'm running FFXI via Steam which folder would i put this in?

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ffxi\SquareEnix is where I went to, but inside this folder there are PlayOnline/FFXI/TetraMaster Folders, should I flat out extract it to the SE folder still or one of the others?

ah, same for me.
looks like POL sever is down again.
my update failed at some DAT file and now i'm getting POL-1161 error at 24% of checking verion's update information.
