Nintendo has always had the best of the booth babes, which surprised me given their reputation. apparently it has always been that way. the only redeeming thing is that while they hands down get the best looking, they are normally fully clothed (tight fitting, but all there). The biggest amount of "booth babes" was, interestingly, Nintendo. They were just wearing moderately tight dresses.
no, no, no. at least you are putting some thought into it, but you are completely misunderstanding. Not all mind game. Just mostly mind game from the women that want to change the way men look at women. And....why would I want to compete with another guy? With women, it is a competition and the claws come out any time you get a group of women together. Even friends will fight when a guy is placed into the group as an available male. I don't know why it happens, but it does. Some women feel threatened by other beautiful women. Threatened by what, I have no idea. Men do not feel threatened when faced with another good looking guy standing at a game developer's booth. So what would this suggestion of "leveling the playing field" solve? It would certainly not make the woman with low self worth feel any better about the women at the booths...it would just add something for her to look at while still feeling sorry for herself.
it has nothing to do with low self worth, the 'hostile environment' is referring to the fact that the point to the convention is not for sex and anything relating to it. objectifying women and making that the main draw is just stupid and only hurts the expo itself as it will lose credibility.
and on another note, trying being anything but an uggo and walking through a crowd of video game playing males that are all jazzed up by this atmosphere and not get irritated. i hate having my ass and tits grabbed, so i don't go into mosh pits anymore. shouldn't have to put up with that shit in places that aren't mosh pits just because they are crowded and the wrong message is being sent by the organizers.
Only took one post for this thread to degenerate for genuine sexism (sexist comments in online games) to silliness (lol"objectification" horseshit).
You say that like male heroes aren't already sexualised.
It varies by media, of course. Some media are mostly aimed at straight males, some at straight females, some at gay males, some at lesbians and the fanservice will reflect that. It's harmless and whining about it doesnt help the feminist cause in actually relevant areas (like equal pay).
And again, if this is the standard by which females are going to view environmental hostility, then every place in the world that has an attractive male around is hostile to males. God, the gym must be the most hostile place in existence. Clubs must be an inveritable lions den.
If a male is honestly objectifying a woman, then yes, its a legitimate hostile situation. If having hotter women around, and only having hotter women around, counts as a hostile situation to women, simply by means of one's own self-esteem, then that's a problem of the woman, not the situation. Booth babes serve no real purpose other than to promote a product that otherwise has no redeeming merits of which to stand on, but to say that booth babes constitute a "hostile environment" is foolish. That's the entire point.
This woman destroyed her entire argument the moment she mentioned this.
more like accuses Gabe Newell of rape and gets him tossed in jail, sues E3 for a million dollars, then five years later admits it was BS but keeps the money.
Look, women have been barred from many career paths, and sexism is alive and well, what can you do about it? Stop being so derogatory, bud. Calling it whining doesn't really help get your point across. And you're saying whining affects equal pay?
WHAT THE FUCK, BRO? Why not be sincere and just say that women are weak and aren't the equals of men because of it? It's just shit like this...man.. We should be better than this as a civilization.
I'm sorry, but what the fuck game were they surveying there? I'm not trying to play the whole "no girls on the internet card", but 47%?“Forty-seven percent of all players are women, and women over 18 years of age are one of the industry’s fastest growing demographics,”
They're probably including all forms of electronic games, including Zynga and indie bullshit. Words with friends, draw something, and all that farmville crap.
Well thats bullshit. Thats like saying all men are gay because the porn they watch have men in them and therefor look at cocks while they jerk it.
But isn't it kind of coincidental that 47% of Facebook users are female and 47% of gamers are suddenly female too?
(I pulled that % out of thin air, so don't quote me...)
And what about the 87% of statistics that are made up on the spot?
Separate the fan service part and the whining comment for me, okay? I find fan service to be tasteful to a point. The whining comment being detrimental to women receiving equal pay to male counterparts, however, is derogatory and obnoxious as hell to say, and awfully sexist too. I wonder how guys would feel if their roles were reversed in that regard, not being paid equally and any complaints to the effect mentioned earlier being detrimental to ensuring equal pay?
It's a bullshit comment to make. Look, I get it. Lots of men bursting with hormones(aka rape fairies, they get into the bloodstream of men and then shit goes down, see what I did thur? funny jejejeje) play video games. Fan service is going to be apart of some games, that's fine. Excessive & tasteless fan service will, however, be just as it is described, tasteless & excessive. We don't need to look up the skirts of school girls in our games, it's idiotic and caters to a singular market and alienates other, not so interested parties, from playing.
I mean, look, I find all sex appeal to be tasteless. I'm not attracted to anything(including kids/animals, you trolls!). I'd like games that don't have any sex appeal in them, am I going to get it? No. Excessive & tasteless will annoy the shit out of me though.
He said whining about fanservice doesn't help. That doesn't mean it hurts. You're blowing the fuck up at shit that wasn't said.
Whining about fan service hurts the cause of equal pay in the feminist movement, is what he said. I'm calm and collected, honestly, we can talk about this over a game of CS:GO if you like. '_' I try not to blow the fuck up at anything, even if it's somewhat justified, simply due to the fact that there are magical fairies lurking about, waiting to do terrible things to me, terrible things.
how does equal pay factor into this thread? .. you keep bringing it up
