Not all mind game. Just mostly mind game from the women that want to change the way men look at women. And....why would I want to compete with another guy? With women, it is a competition and the claws come out any time you get a group of women together. Even friends will fight when a guy is placed into the group as an available male. I don't know why it happens, but it does. Some women feel threatened by other beautiful women. Threatened by what, I have no idea. Men do not feel threatened when faced with another good looking guy standing at a game developer's booth. So what would this suggestion of "leveling the playing field" solve? It would certainly not make the woman with low self worth feel any better about the women at the booths...it would just add something for her to look at while still feeling sorry for herself.

The biggest amount of "booth babes" was, interestingly, Nintendo. They were just wearing moderately tight dresses.

Nintendo has always had the best of the booth babes, which surprised me given their reputation. apparently it has always been that way. the only redeeming thing is that while they hands down get the best looking, they are normally fully clothed (tight fitting, but all there).

no, no, no. at least you are putting some thought into it, but you are completely misunderstanding.
it has nothing to do with low self worth, the 'hostile environment' is referring to the fact that the point to the convention is not for sex and anything relating to it. objectifying women and making that the main draw is just stupid and only hurts the expo itself as it will lose credibility.

and on another note, trying being anything but an uggo and walking through a crowd of video game playing males that are all jazzed up by this atmosphere and not get irritated. i hate having my ass and tits grabbed, so i don't go into mosh pits anymore. shouldn't have to put up with that shit in places that aren't mosh pits just because they are crowded and the wrong message is being sent by the organizers.

If a male is honestly objectifying a woman, then yes, its a legitimate hostile situation. If having hotter women around, and only having hotter women around, counts as a hostile situation to women, simply by means of one's own self-esteem, then that's a problem of the woman, not the situation. Booth babes serve no real purpose other than to promote a product that otherwise has no redeeming merits of which to stand on, but to say that booth babes constitute a "hostile environment" is foolish. That's the entire point.

Separate the fan service part and the whining comment for me, okay? I find fan service to be tasteful to a point. The whining comment being detrimental to women receiving equal pay to male counterparts, however, is derogatory and obnoxious as hell to say, and awfully sexist too. I wonder how guys would feel if their roles were reversed in that regard, not being paid equally and any complaints to the effect mentioned earlier being detrimental to ensuring equal pay?
