I cant recall a single time Wulfgang has once yelled at me in this thread. He talked trash to me for 24 hours leading up the regular season Pens-Predators matchup in March but Pekka Rinne completely wiffed on a low-scoring-chance shot from Malkin and the Pens went on to crush the Preds like 5-1 and he shut up.
He's internalizing.
Isn't the New York post often wrong and make things up?
I don't know how the devils are broke but not the islanders.....
On another note rumor has it that Nash is thinking about destroying his own trade value by holding a press conference to say he only wants to play for (insert team name here). Thoughts?
It'd almost serve Howson right for throwing him under the bus like that at trade deadline.
As much as they wanna say it's not harming the team, and Cliche 101 talk about how all things are back to normal regarding Nash and the Blue Jackets, it'd be fitting if he said "I'll only play for Toronto (or other team inserted there)" just so that Howson gets low-balled in the market for him.
inc Nash to Toronto for Jeff Finger
So the best time of the offseason is coming up.. Draft day! Anyone been following the crop? Who do you want to see your team take with their 1st rounder?
Here's my top 15 mock.
1. EDMONTON OILERS - W Nail Yakupov... Oilers take BPA.
2. COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS - C Alex Galchenyuk... A lot of people think CBJ won't risk taking a Russian again, but I think the draw of a #1 C is too much to resist. Plus Galchenyuk is perceived a safer Russian than Grigorenko is.
3. MONTREAL CANADIENS - W Filip Forsberg.. MTL avoids the risk of Grigorenko and takes an amazing Wing talent.
4. NEW YORK ISLANDERS - D Ryan Murray - NYI need a D-man and take the best one in the draft.
5. TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS - C Mikhail Grigorenko.. Burke is ecstatic he falls this far, and rolls the dice for a potential #1C.
6 ANAHEIM DUCKS - D Matt Dumba -
7 MINNESOTA WILD - D Griffin Reinhart OR D Jacob Trouba - Wild go with maybe the second best D-man in the draft in Reinhart, or go local with the Trouba pick.
8 CAROLINA HURRICANES - W Teuvo Teräväinen - The next Teemu? Carolina loves Finns and he's pure talent.
9 WINNIPEG JETS - D Jacob Trouba OR D Griffin Reinhart if still available - They take whichever D-man the Wild leaves behind.
10 TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING - Morgan Reilly D - Best offensive D-man in the draft to compliment Hedman.
11 WASHINGTON CAPITALS (FROM COL) - W Sebastian Collberg - One of the most skilled Wingers in the draft, and Washington loves their Euros.
12 BUFFALO SABRES - D Cody Ceci - Big body, great skating, booming shot from the point. What's not to love?
13 DALLAS STARS - C Radek Faska - Dallas is absolutely thrilled to have the 3rd best C in the draft fall this far.
14 CALGARY FLAMES - D Olli Maatta - Very safe pick works well for Calgary, who needs to restock the cupboard. Nothing flashy but good at everything, almost guaranteed to be an NHL player.
15 OTTAWA SENATORS - C Zemgus Girgensons - Next best Center in the draft, good two way player with great skating.
I think Calgary could take Subban if he's still available.
Kipper won't be around forever, and would be a decent guy to look up to.
Would've said he'd go to Tampa Bay, but they picked up Lindback, so who knows if they'd go after another goalie
Damn, I really want Dumba. But he's been creeping up the last slowly in the past few months.
Also TSN just did a snippet saying Kanes representative and co said the rumors of him not wanting to sign with Winnipeg is completely false.
Rumor that Jagr will test the Market this year
Hoping Montreal actually try to get him. He did awesome with Plecanec in the world champs, Habs needs a good winger for Plekanec
Also Oilers will take Murray and Habs take Yakupov or Grigorenko
There's not a chance Oilers take Murray with #1. They trade down if they want Murray, but they've already pretty much said they're taking Yakupov.
could prob flop Yakupov in a year or two for a more established defensmen + others. Or another good forward.
Stuart "resigns" with the Sharks, 3 years at 3.6mil per year. A pretty good deal for both sides, Sharks get a good defenseman at not a bad price and Stuart gets to be close to his family.
A lot of talk the Sharks might move Marleau. Probably time to. He was a no show yet again in the playoffs and it seems like the Sharks window is starting to close a bit.
There is no window, there never was a window. We do have a lamp though.
In a perfect world, Howson would use his ties to the Oilers to deal Nash here.
Of course, the deal in my head is like:
Nash and #2 pick overall
for
Hemsky, Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson and #1 overall
Yeah, would never happen.
Ever.
Oilers would have a forward taller than 4'8" and could take Ryan Murray 2nd overall and not ruin the "Fail for Nail" theme.
Puck Daddy saying Buffalo looking hard at making offers for either Statsny or Staal.
