all joking aside. Portman wasn't THAT bad. Ewan Mcgregor saved the whole series, if anything was to be saved. He's such a good actor in my opinion.

Portman did a good job with a lame role. So did Christiansen. Lucas fucked it up, not them. McGregor was by far the best part of 1-3, though.

I read an interesting article a while back about how this guy would have written 1-3 differently, and it made a lot of sense. In 4-6 you have Luke as the main character, with Anakin only viewed from a slight distance. In 1-3, Lucas should have stuck with that formula and gone with Obi-Wan as the main character, with Anakin again remaining more distant. As it was, you never really had a main character in 1-3. You had Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme all competing for that distinction.

Edit: I also read a much older article that argues that the story is actually about the Droids, which also makes sense, since they're the only ones that are alive in all 6 movies, even though Threepio gets wiped.

This show is the best thing to come out of the prequels. Started out slow as fuck for me, but once it got moving, it actually shows Anakin being a bad ass hero during the war, and explains much more about why he starts to side with the dark side. Seeing him slowly getting darker and darker as he is still fighting to save people is pretty awesome.
