You should just grab her and bring her inside Dan if you have any interest in keeping her. If you change your mind you can always drops her off with the shelter. If it's as affectionate and thin as you say it is then it's almost certainly a house cat that was either let out or ran out. Either way leaving her outside will probably end up killing her.

doing it with tweezers is generally fine, you want to get the head if possible but they're much better protected against that kind of infection than we are

if you're super worried about the head, light a match, blow it out, and touch the tip to the tick while it's still hot, they'll usually pull themselves out at which point you can do whatever

Never did the match thing, nor with a cat (dogs and a goat once), but used a spoon, crackhead style, and heated it up and touched it to the tick.

Arya peed on my bed again randomly last night after I had been in the bathroom getting ready for bed. She's also stopped covering up her pee in the litter box. Why is she doing that stuff?

the most common reason is a change in environment or some kind of stress factor, they then want their pee around because the pheromones are comforting, it makes them feel like they're in "their" place

it's not always that, but like seriously 90% of the time it is, the only thing is solving it won't necessarily solve whatever the root issue is, just relieve the stress, but if it's just something like a new cat stinking up the neighborhood, or a room they like suddenly having a door closed a lot of the time, or whatever random shit they don't like but is no big deal, then the pheromone solutions are awesome

My one cat is a spiteful little shit. His delicate nose gets disjointed if the litterbox isn't immaculate and to his satisfaction, so he does horrible things like pee on my mattress, which he did this morning and he's lucky I didn't kill him.

The ironic thing was once I had finished eating my breakfast, I was going to clean the damn box.

Anyone around North NJ want a cat? You can have him for free. We're seriously thinking of finding him a new home at this point.

Possibly also time to find a spot for an extra litterbox. Ikea Hacks has lots of ideas for clever ways to hide them so you don't need to see/smell them all the time.
