Bigfoot is real! lolol i love this show
kill me. do it. kill me now.
the lines in this episode are awesome
I fucking love Mackenize.
the one liners and comedy value in this episode were great, but god damn the tone fucking changed hella fast...wow....great episode...
Sam Waterston man... This dude is awesome. LOL
I always fear Sam Waterston will have a heart attack every episode
Man, Don siding with not calling it, then Will calling Charlie and Mac back in, fuck yeah, good shit. Loved this episode.
Best series I have seen a long time. I am IN LOVE with this show.
"First off, I'm a registered Republican. I only seem liberal because I think that hurricanes are caused by high barometric pressure and not gay marriage."
Oh god this show. So fucking good.
Great show, sharp writing, couple minor issues with it: the love stories feel forced and out of place most of the time. Occasionally I feel like I'm watching Grey's Anatomy set in a newsroom.
Second thing was, I think, in episode 2, when Mack sent out that staff e-mail to everyone that dropped the ball about her cheating on Will. ...seriously? We're supposed to believe the extremely talented executive producer is so out of touch with e-mail that she can't figure out how to send an e-mail to Will? Not only that, but that she typed "s" instead of "w," not once, but twice? And the asterisk thing was so forced. It's a ridiculous thing to have in place where it automatically sends an e-mail to everyone, and it's not something your thumb or finger just slips on and accidentally types. And in the scene right after that, where Will comes out of the office and is screaming, Mack just pissed me off because she's making (bad) nervous jokes while Will's genuinely angry. Didn't play off each other well.
Then again, it's Aaron Sorkin so maybe I should shut the fuck up.
I think that the line "I'm a register Republican..." throughout this entire show (hes said it almost every episode so far) is their "cop out" for trying to not have the show sound entirely liberal based on what they say/do.
Sad thing is, they're just speaking the truth on the issues (so far). The truth doesn't have a liberal bias... It's just what most liberals have been saying.
So how mad was Sorkin when MSNBC canned Olberman?
I have to hand it to Sorkin. It's a real accomplishment to make a show that comes off as shameless liberal wankery to someone as left of center as me. McAvoy's "registered Republican" pretext doesn't really hold up when he's disgusted by every element of the conservative movement and not just the Tea Party. Did he just wake from a coma that Reagan winning the nomination put him into? There are people like what McAvoy claims to be. They've been trying to build the Libertarian party into a real party for the past thirty years, not continuing to register Republican.
Not to draw out a political discussion. But McAvoy's character does seem to be set in an 80's era mind set. There's no way in hell he's continuous with the Republican movement for the last 20+ years. Maybe someone who called themselves a Republican? Or someone who's fairly upset at how the Bush the era went? I mean, his character is so far removed from being a Republican that its really conflicting with the political story (if you really care, I don't).
He said in the first episode that hes voted for candidates on both sides of the aisle but is still considered a registered Republican.
But yeah I do see where you guys are coming from... His character seems to have been living in a bubble just waiting to burst in outrage over what has happened to the Republican party, not just since the inception of the Tea Party, but in the last 30-40 years.
Great episode. And wow, thats the most likeable thing I've seen Don say/do, at the end of that episode.
i think thats part of the whole story though. he was this closed up anchor only out for ratings so he was never controversial. now that hes done it, he cant stop. sorta like the cliche of: dont let all your anger build up until it all explodes. let it out in small bursts
"Back in 15 seconds, Will. Try not to date anyone before you’re on the air."
"Copy, Mac. Try not to sleep with your ex-boyfriend while I am."
...
"He got the better of that exchange."
Ha.
