Holy shit
Oklahoma City has traded James Harden to the Houston Rockets, league sources tell Y! Sports.
kevin martin, jeremy lamb, and picks? ehh
they're gonna be a lot different defensively taking thabo out of the starting lineup.
terrible move by OKC imo
Awful, awful decision, I guess they got what they could before they had to pay him?
Edit: Looks like they couldn't agree on an extension and decided to trade him instead.
yeah, seems like they didn't want it to be a distraction. probably wanted to have the entire season to get acclimated with their new lineup instead of doing it midseason, even if they woulda gotten more value.
holy shit...rockets roster is awful lol, how did i not notice that
Martin fell off hard last year and is a fairly inefficient volume scorer (getting to the line is what saves him his overall shooting % is terrible) which is an awful fit with a Westbrook who suffers a similar affliction and a Durant who should be shooting fifty times a game
plus Harden ran that second unit as a point-forward, great passer and more importantly great playmaking instincts and court generalship, their offense often ran smoother under him than it did under Russ
i like Lamb but he'll struggle to see much playing time with Martin-Durant-Sefo siphoning off almost all 2/3 minutes
Harden struggled badly in the Finals but he is an exceptionally efficient explosive scorer entering the prime of his career whose playmaking abilities were critical to OKC's success
bad trade
also Lakers walk unhindered to Western supremacy now
While I agree that Harden to Martin is an overall downgrade, I'm not sure we've seen the best of Kevin Martin yet. This is by far the best team he will have ever played with, if he is capable of being a championship caliber 2-guard, we should see an increase in his shooting % this season compared to years past since his quality of looks will go up. Plus I feel he is a better spot up shooter then Westbrook (haven't checked synergy for the breakdown), which means he can take advantage of those drive and kicks better than Harden could. His creation ability will be missed running the second unit, but perhaps the Thunder feel that Maynor can handle that coming off his injury.
I'm not sure I agree with Simmons, he said the Thunder should pay Harden, but when your top two guys sign for less, do you threaten that chemistry by signing the third guy to a max deal? I'm not saying Harden should sign for less, he should try to get every dollar he can - but I don't know that the Thunder were wrong in refusing to sign him to max either. Arguably this was the best trade the Thunder were going to get ever, and if Harden wasn't going to sign for less, it made sense to pull the trigger. It's an astounding trade though. Has a NBA title contender ever traded their 3rd best guy on the eve of the season before? Shocking.
Yay we finally got rid of Kmart. He has been in the NBA for 9 years.. he is what he is. Not sure wtf Morey is doing still...is there some cant miss prospect that should be in the 2013 draft that i am missing?
unhindered is a strong word
forgot about the draft today...also someone needs to make the reg. season thread
DRAFT IN ONE HOUR
btw, fully opposed to weekly lineups in h2h
