Operation: Find New Mats

A couple of months ago a few ls mates and myself started a project where we went looking for a secondary method (besides VW) of obtaining the new general (not NM specific) mats that were introduced in the 110 crafting cap update. Those mats were Palladian Brass Ore, Squamous Hide, Staghorn Coral, Thokcha Ore, & Wyrdstrand. We were able to confirm the mobs that were listed in the comments on FFXIAH for the S. Hide & W. Strand, but sadly we haven't been able to find another source for the ores or coral besides VW. Now I'm reaching out to the community because I'm on a update-the-wiki kick. Below is a list containing all the new mobs introduced to the game since the cap was raised to 80, not counting Abyssea or NMs. Something to note, we found that the drop rate of the new mats is an approx 10%. This stayed roughly the same between all confirmed mobs.

I've already gone through and added the new crawlers to the wiki, plus have added the new & missing mobs to the crawler category. Now all I have to do is clean up some of the pages with that fancy template that is used for the Abyssea mobs.

Penelope's Cloth and Serica Cloth also are only Voidwatch sources at the moment. I suspect that Ormolu Ingot, Penelope's Cloth, Serica Cloth, and Staghorn Coral are exclusive to Voidwatch (ToAU/CoP and Provenance).

I am surprised that Thokcha and Palladium Ore have not been found elsewhere.

I haven't read of anyone mining Halvung/Mount Zhayolm. I think that's the last place as far as helm goes.

Someone went out and tried pretty close to the update's release and reported them found nothing. HOWEVER, I've noticed there are a shitton of Plumbago available on AH for not very much, so I'm thinking that Mount Z is likely a pretty good target.

Unless its been ninja added since then due to complaints, we were unable to get them via mining.

as far as new drops go, heres what I found

The only reason theres a lot of Plumbago on the AH is because its a ridiculously common mining result, but it sells fast at a decent price. As far as why people ARE mining...I dont know, maybe it was ninja added, but all the plumbago sellers havent sold any thokcha or palladian

Also, people have been mining for Aht Urghan Brass, since ingots are selling for 50k, and individual brass for 15k, at least on Slyph. In addition, there seems to be a run on items for Alexander, as people are stocking up on enhancing items.

edit: hearsay, but my friend went and got 19 brass in 2 hours, along with like 4 of the Alexander items needed for quest.
