Well, after several years out of commission..I wanted to get back into this again. Just I really don't know where to go or anyone to talk to. ^^; So if anyone happens to be on Lakshmi..Hell, I can even do a Server jump if necessary, I would sincerely appreciate any help and direction.

Been back for about a month or two from a two year break.

Been doing VW city clears and i get that the weapon skill weakness is sort of like Abby but what does it mean with people say H2H - 4 instead of just H2H, i never get any number or other suggestions when i get the message about the monsters weakness.

From looking at BG wiki VW ws weakness chart, i thought maybe it's the 5th ws in the list or the 5th column. So far i have just been lucky in getting it on my third or fourth ws i try.

Shouldn't be seeing 4, unless its a typo. There are 3 levels of vulnerability to moves for Voidwatch, regular, highly and extremely. These are generally labeled 1,3, and 5 (i've also seen nothing, HV, and EV applying the same way).

Seeing H2H 3 called out means this is a Highly Vulnerable weakness, applying a longer terror, a red !!, replenishing all temps instead of one, and adding more light value. <Ability> 5 are the highest priority, with a white !!, maxing of all lights, a very long terror, and replenishing temps and providing a revitalizer temp if you have the right KI. It can still be any of the category.

I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place to put this...but I didnt see anywhere better.

It's been a long time away, but after a couple years, I've decided I wanna come back home to Vana'diel. I am a 6 year veteran, and I stopped playing a couple months after Shinryu was released. Just reading through these forums like the old times... so much has changed while I've been gone. Some of the old names I used to run with were Richardd, Stanislav, Chubbs, Paxton...and alot of other cool kids from Hades.

I'm trying to reactivate my account, but I've hit a snag. Wondering if anyone can give me the right direction.
1) I have my POL ID and the original email I used, but I dont remember my POL passwords. I tried just guessing from memory last night, and I ended up using all my login chances lol.
2) My Token has long since stopped working and been lost. At this point, I just want to remove the token from my account. Ive seen that alot of people have done this the wrong way and screwed their account... So I'm not sure the right way to go about that.
3) I also dont recall my Square Enix account info either. I'm not sure whether or not that's important, but at this point, I'm sure it is.
4) I have my original CD's up to WoTG, but I know you can get the full collection on Steam right now. I hear there is a new and improved windower out right now, which I feel has always been essential for this game. Will the new windower not work if I run the game through Steam?

Again, I apologize if this is in the wrong section, or if these questions have been beaten to death...but I would rather come ask you guys first before I have to fight with somebody over the phone for a while.

I have my original CD's up to WoTG, but I know you can get the full collection on Steam right now. I hear there is a new and improved windower out right now, which I feel has always been essential for this game. Will the new windower not work if I run the game through Steam?

You don't even need to have steam running to play the game. You can track down the install location and look for the XI folder. If you want to run the config, track down the correct "Tools" folder (NA/EU/JP) and load from there.

The new Windower will find the game on its own, so you don't have to config.

hmm... i see people still play FFXI. Feeling nostalgic, am laid off and been bored lately. I haven't played since i co-led a Dynamis LS, 75 was the level cap, and SAM/THF with a Hagun was pretty much the shit. And... I'm thinking I missed a few things along the way.

edit: answered my own question, still a $14.99 sub fee. that might kill it for me, with SWTOR and GW2 being free.

PLD and RDM are both making a bit of a comeback but you're going to see a lot of demand for you to have either an Ochain or an Aegis if you go with PLD.

Just to piggyback on what Eld's said, if you level PLD expecting to do new content (truly, anything VW or later) you'll be expected to have either an Aegis or an Ochain, especially in Delve. SCH, geared right, is still in high demand, and SAM does fine and is probably the "easiest" to gear well (easiest is in quotes b/c things like Ganesha's Mala are very easy to kill, but have shit drop rates). RDM is very useful in Delve since several of the monsters' gimmicks revolve around being enfeebled, but that means getting your enfeebling capped. I can guarantee that on RDM, you'll never be bored.

Well, A rdm is useful, having one to debuff the mob. Having more than one is quickly inefficient in the standard setups I'm aware of. So it's nice if you're that one I guess. PLD is technically great and in high demand, however the proviso is that like Martinius said they really reach that level of desirability with relic/empyrean shield. You really can't do Reives that well until a PLD grabs some mobs, you will probably waste lots of time doing Wildskeepers without a PLD on board, and you won't get anywhere in Delve without 2 PLDs to have available. Reives are not like especially important, but just giving some indication of how this expansion is shaping events.

Thinking about coming back, probably would have to start from scratch. My biggest concern is the ToAU stuff...basically, I'd like at least 1 Mythic wep. Are people still doing assaults/nyzul etc? Are they solo-able at 99 now? Any info on this would be much appreciated.

without at least 2 good friends you aint gonna get a mythic:
1. cockblock:
doing all assats to get captain rank. requieres at least 3 people to enter.
2. CB:
TOAU kings you aint gonna solo them if you arent a good pld even then gurfurl is a bitch to deal with because of petrify
3. cockblock: nyzul ponits, see 1.
4. cockblock: einherjar needs at least 6 people to enter
5. cockblock: alexandrite,salvage requires 3 people to enter and it kind of died down since delve was released

honestly a mythic is not a realistic option for you when you are starting from scratch

Unless you can make a static... 3box... or shout for members, you'd be hard pressed to find a huge market for alex now. SoA has introduced so many stuff, that people instead are grinding that out, leaving most old content kind of bare.

If you do find sellers, they are not going to be cheap. Along the same lines, bringing an empyrean weapon to 99 is going through a similar state. Less and less voidwatch shouts now with the new delve weapons/armor out.

So honestly, if you still want that mythic, you are most likely going to be grinding your ass off, or asking for some huge favors. 3boxing might be the most realistic path to go now, unless you have connections.

You should install Windower 4, and copy and paste all of your text binding files and/or SpellCast XMLs to the new directories.

I'd go instead with 'move' as opposed to 'copy'. Spent too long trying to figure out why Spellcast wouldn't see my changes til I realized the file I had open was in oldwindower/plugins/spellcast

Re-rolled on Asura as Despaine, and I have to say the changes so far I've experienced are quite pleasant. 1-10 in 30 minutes? This use to take me almost 2 hours without a PL...

Also it's a shock how much I've forgotten about this game, even though its been 3 years. Looking forward to more.. haven't had this much fun playing a game in a while.

Time for the obligatory homeless post... So it's been a good 2-3 years since I've played but recently got the itch to come back and do a little exploring. Used to be part of Apathy LS on Remora (then we moved to Shiva which is where I currently am) before my desire to play sputtered out so I wouldn't consider myself an inexperienced player but I feel a bit lost as to what I should be focusing on and who I should be doing things with. I have mainly been working on soloing limit break/exp since I have been back but am finding it incredibly difficult to find any sort of group to do anything with whether it be exp or random whatnot. I have read the returning player's guide and understand exp parties don't really exist anymore and everything is done in small groups now but as someone who knows no one who still plays what's the best way to find an event group to do things with?

Is there a resource for how to find other old timer players like myself who are a bit clueless in this new game? Or a resource for how to find new LS that would welcome my newfound cluelessness? I'm on Shiva currently as Asierr but it's been pretty lonely so far!

So a follow up - having issues trying to procure a EU Adoulin expansion code - my original SE account is an EU one since I was living there when I first started playing but I'm in the US now. Someone suggested http://uk.gamesplanet.com/ but you can't use a US paypal account to pay - it removes the item from checkout when I try to pay with paypal due to region issues..

Is my only way to find someone looking for a NA code and make a trade? I had this same problem when Wings came out and I ended up trading codes with someone in EU with my reverse issue, but wondering if SE has made this easier for people who have moved out of their original account region... Any suggestions welcome
