So I went to the Square Enix Showcase during my visit in Tokyo...



Fun stuff~ there was a lotta cool trinkets I wanted to buy, but they're quite expensive. The moogle is my sister's purchase, I got the 25th Anniversary moogle cup and the FFXI Avatar file folder (I figured the wall scroll would be awesome, but with this I can carry it around with me everywhere!) while the two other cups I got for my friends back in Canada.

It's just the elements, for the most part. Titan's is Earth, as in soil and the like, and all the others seem to be right along the same lines. I don't recognize the ones in front of Phoenix and Diabolos though.

edit: On second glance, Diabolos' appears to be along the lines of "to dream" or vision, that kind of stuff, but I still can't figure what's in front of Phoenix.

the basic avatars are their elements. Fenrir's is Moon. carbuncle's is Rainbow. Diabolos is Dream, Bahamut's is Sky.
Not sure on Phoenix. Most everything I can relate to Phoenix is spelled in katakana
更 is the closest I can find and it means renew, again and other such words, but kanji doesn't exactly work on "looks like".

the characters are not exactly elements for the terrestrial avatars..

phoenix's means 'again' or 'renew' pretty much.. and so the proper interpretation is most likely rebirth.

because it was probably made during/right after CoP. Atomos and Cait Sith aren't Celestial/Terrestrial Avatars, but Alexander and Odin are not on it as well.

Makes sense. if I remember the titles correctly:

Bahamut is the Conqueror of the Skies.
Diabolos is the Keeper of Dreams.
Phoenix is the Fiery Avatar of Rebirth.
Fenrir is the Guardian of the Moon.
Carbuncle is the Bringer of Rainbows.

I'd rock that as a sweet ass poster although it needs to be on nice stock instead of some crappy vinyl wallscroll or folded semigloss like everything else nerd-related.

Also, is that the only actual illustrated rendition of XI Phoenix? (besides being fused with Tenzen's blade or Selh'teus)
