What more does the movie have to do with Evangelion than any of the other million shows about giant robots vs giant monsters?
Apparently Eva created the giant robot vs giant creature genre. Also it's Dai-Guard style, not eva.
Other than the obvious robots vs monsters, and that one Jaeger that kinda looks like Eva-00, I'm not seeing the similarity, either.
He could have just been personally inspired by his works. That's why his name is in the Thanks portion of the credits and not under anything else, because you know, he's just thanking them.
Someone's gonna feel stupid when all the robots form a megazord during the climax
That was the point yes.
Anyone who says "He's ripping off X" is retarded. There's a difference between ripping off and being inspired by/paying homage to.
But pilots! And the symbolism of two pilots is like Shinji and Asuka and...that flying Kaiju is like an Angel.
Post/thread OP about ripping off or adapting Eva, and numerous posts pointing out otherwise (including hitting it on the head with Dai-Guard..).
It's like i'm really on /m/!
I'm rather excited to know just what the three (or is it four now?) unknown Jaegers look like (and if they're "next-generation"). It doesn't seem like Cherno Alpha is going to make it based on that mauling from the trailers. That leaves Crimson Typhoon, Striker Eureka, and the old, outdated Gypsy Danger and Coyote Tango (and worse Tango is single-pilot); sounds like it'll end up with those two being the only ones of the five known Jaegers left if there's any sort of plot conventionallity here.
Spoiler: show
What worries me is that there were no trailers before Star Wars or Iron Man. I worry it's not going to do well...
Star Trek.
But sure, I'll be that guy. The Trek Wars Galactica.
Got the trailer for it before Iron man last weekend, in Australia though.
trailer was on IM3 and ST both here in cali.
glad that was actually explained; was afraid the two pilots was just going to be JUST CUZ.
