How do you as a company lose the assets for games from your flagship series? >_>
Unless they went and had a yard sale of old HDDs that doesn't make any goddamn sense.
I think the storage was repurposed or sold. IX was developed in Hawaii and shortly after IX's release they closed that studio IIRC, so they probably just liquidated everything they could. Cross platform re-releases and HD makeovers were not a thing, so it didn't make much sense to save the assets back then I guess.
Still, for a company to just think they would never again need assets for games of their flagship franchise...I just don't get it.
It was a company in their prime, no fucks were giving about selling old content, they thought their glory days would never end. Until 13 came out...
Idk why people say that considering how well 13 sold. Their money issues stemmed from that FF movie.
Hmm, this might be something to get so I can have my own copy when I get me a PS4. I'm hoping when I get one there will be more games, this'll be one more to add to the list..
Yeah but KH1 assets were also lost and they still redid them all for 1.5 so i'm sure they could do it for FFVIII-IX
I dislike FFVII but I'd actually buy that version in a heart beat. It took some actual work and is something other than an infinite troll port.

Coming to iOS this summer, and delayed but still coming to PS4 this winter. Still worth it considering FFVII remake will be released in like 2020.
