EA to make $1 Billion Revenue this year from DLC
http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/27/madd...ues-1-billion/EA’s 2014 catalogue of games brings with it a huge swathe of DLC and other add-on content.
An EA spokesperson told Bloomberg the publisher expects this additional content to generate over $1 billion in revenue if successful.
The comment was inspired by the success of the Madden NFL series. Analyst firm Cowen & Co said Madden 15 will likely generate over $350 million in revenue when cover charge and DLC are combined.
Longbow Research said the “margins on Madden Ultimate Team are through the roof”, and predicted this aspect of the game alone will generate $50 million in revenue.
EA has said that quarterly revenue from Madden DLC has grown 350% year-on-year – and that’s for the quarter ending in June, when you’d expect sales to be tailing off in preparation for the next game’s release. Wow.
As for the rest of EA’s catalogue, this year we’re expecting The Sims 4, FIFA 15, NHL 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. That’s on top of the games we’ve already had this year – Titanfall, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, EA Sports UFC, 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil – and ongoing add-on sales for the publisher’s huge back catalogue.

Streamer Kootra gets "SWATTED"
http://www.vg247.com/2014/08/28/swat...-player-video/Pro Counter-Strike player Kootra, a member of TheCreatures, looks to have been “swatted” mid way through a game.
Kootra figures he’s being swatted before the cops bust through his door, lay him on the floor and cuff him. It’s all perfectly framed.

I was unaware Sega was doing this badly.
Can't be good news for Atlus fans though. I don't want to endure another SMT Nine fiscal black hole.
I tried to let that go through my head and check the report. Do I misunderstand something or have most of the losses been caused by the resortment business that is also a subsidiary of Sega Sammy? The article makes it seem like the sales of videogames were a large part of the losses, but the report specificially states that business of Phoenix Resort required them to record provisions, so basically most of the losses went here, if I'm not misunderstanding the report.
Basically, SEGA itself did worse than last year despite better sales (costs for advertising are cited), but Sega Sammy did terrible due to the business of PHOENIX RESORT. Though I can't say that I fully understand why they think that the market for packaged games is softening up even though they sold more units than in the previous year at this point; that part doesn't make much sense to me.
MS has apparently filed a trademark for BATTLETOADS

Looks like Grandia II is getting a PS-Store release on November 19th. I only played the Dreamcast-version, but I wonder if it's going to have the same issues as the PS2-version. According to Famitsu, it's for PS3.
Yes! Finally. I don't even care about the PS2 issues. Great game is great.
What were the issues? Only played the (rather solid for its time) PC port which I recalled having no problems with. The release on PSN will very likely just be a PS2 Classics though.
I played through the PS2 Grandia II with no problems, so, no idea what it could be.
If I recall correctly, a lot of reviews back in 2002 mentioned somewhat blurry graphics. Wikipedia also mentions possible slow downs and graphic glitches if there is too much going on, causing characters to turn entirely white.
Outside of the techncal stuff mentioned, I remember some slowdown issues.
Also, Grandia 2 was a LOT less colorful and vibrant. The presentation suffered from it. Though it was still a great game.
I believe there was a pretty big bug where talking to a certain NPC would screw up the computers AI when fighting Milia. She wouldn't cast the spell needed to end the boss fight and continue the game. It might have only been PC though. Remember seeing something about it when reading a Let's Play a few months ago.
