Problem with content is it's better done in a group but if you're not in the first wave of players after the patch you're going to have difficulty getting shit done.

There are plenty of nice ways to make old content going from "absolutely useless" to "moderately usefull".

The whole of FF14 now revolves around Company Seals.
It's such a waste that no "old" event (and we're talking about months old stuff, not years) rewards a good chunk of GC. That could give players an alternative from wasting hours on a craptasticly boring Caravan content, and instead have them do dungeon runs, or Primals.

You can run totorak for more seals/h than caravan
    Ifrit gets turned into seals
Moogle will be turned into seals
    Darkhold gets turned into seals

Not saying you're wrong, but they have done that.

I was very disappointed that United We Stand did not award even a mere 1,000 company seals upon repeating it.

-If you're running toto-rak for seals, you're not running it for gear, which is the only other reason to run it and creates a bit of a conflict of interest
-No one in their right mind would do this unless they actually enjoyed the fight or was helping a friend, also drop rates
-You can't turn in Moogle weapons for seals
-See toto-rak (a group thrown together for AF is extremely unlikely to beat batraal in a timely/worthwhile manner, assuming everyone doesn't just immediately ditch after getting to the AF boxes to begin with, nvm that even if you clear the zone most of the group will wind with nothing anyway)

Reward people with seals for participating in job quest/AF fights/company quests that they don't have active, no one cares if it doesn't make any sense, as long as the reward is kinda-somewhat worth the time people would be much more willing to help out and those are the sort of things people have trouble finding help with.

Absolutely agree. I think it's a nice supplementary recruitment function, but falls way short on it's own.

The hamlet defence crap is the worst content they've implemented so far. It's incredibly boring because of the emphasis on DoH/L jobs and the drop rates on seals are terrible. I've gotten 1 from about 20 runs and that's in groups where like half the members are done with it. I have to keep forcing myself to login and do it because if I don't I'll be left behind and no one will want to do it.

I just hope they get out of the "friends help each other!" mindset.

I understand that sometimes it's nice to help others just out of good will, but it'd be nice to have actual reasons to do so.
Play time is still a valuable resource, especially in a grind-heavy system.

Had 4 in a row drop yesterday. Was insane. Best part of it was, first two fell to the same guy.

It's one of those irritating things where the drop rate is wonky ya, but it's not toooo terribad. The ridiculous part is that on top of the drop rate you have to hope it falls to you or you win a /random afterwards.

No one can argue Hamlet is boring, but the drop rate isn't "terrible" by any means. You can get hosed for sure but you can also get lucky. Two Sundays ago we went 3/9 and just this last Sunday we went 9/9 in Hyrstmill (sounds unbelievable reading it but I was there for all 9 runs) with 1 of those being 59k. Drop rate seems to be right around 50-55% for 60k runs.

If you have a dedicated static/LS that is farming together it's not so bad. I can see how horrible it would be to go with pugs and just hoping that the seal falls to you though. Find some friends/LS!

    @Niiro

I can 5C Toto in 20m by myself, Toto has no Cooldown, 40m->die->trade->return->Toto again. What do you mean no gear, you're trading the gear lol

Only problem is you need someone to enter you. Moogle will be turned in when 1.23 is released.

Like I said in my other post, the original request wasn't wrong, but they have done that. That doesn't mean done right.

It wasn't about what was most efficient, rather that turning outdated events into seal-farming expeditions is just poor design. The concept is supposed to be doing the event for non-specific rewards with people who want the specific rewards, which would be a way to keep older content relevant. In toto-rak's case (and DH) it's become purely the former, the event no longer serves it's original purpose (the gear is completely outdated and its only use is to be turned into seals).

Toto-rak isn't made relevant because you can turn the gear in for seals, it just turns it into an errand with no substance or challenge. That's high quality, uncut, primo, brand-name Grind in it's purest form.

    Also didn't they add a 15 min re-entry timer for Toto-rak?

1.18 lockouts start when you enter, not when you exit. Can still spam totorak (worst case scenario, you wait 1-3mins if you're duoing).

I don't think hamlet is bad, but I'm not here to argue that point. Rather, I think this was mostly SE wanting to implement something that would (strongly) encourage folks who hadn't leveled up a DoL/DoH to do so. And it worked.

I said this before somewhere, but I still think Ham Def is a trial run for an even bigger version of the same concept.

I assume that as well, since the achievements used to mention "level 5" hamlet, but that's not necessarily a good thing. I've heard plenty of people that aren't thrilled with it. Making it bigger isn't really going to improve things, unless they actually make some interesting changes.
