Though news broke recently that pre-orders for Medal of Honor: Warfighter’s limited edition would grant access to the Battlefield 4 beta next year, it’s not the only path to beta access.

Community Manager of Battlefield 3 Ian Tornay clarified the issue on Reddit, explaining that pre-ordering MOH: WF isn’t the only way to earn time with the BF4 beta when it launches in fall 2013:

“There will be other ways to get into the beta aside from Medal of Honor: Warfighter. At this time, however, it is the only way to guarantee entry.”

Tornay was also quick to address community concerns regarding the oddly early announcement of Battlefield 4’s development:

“I truly believe that we’re in one of the best positions to be creating our next title – Frostbite 2 has matured, we’ve been gathering fan feedback like crazy, Battlefield 3 continues to expand with features which we can learn from, and we’ve got more data about how people play than ever.

There are several teams at DICE. Starting work on Battlefield 4 does not mean that we will be abandoning Battlefield 3 or working any less hard to bring you the best expansions we can.

DICE and EA are dedicated to continuing our support for Battlefield 3. Just as we’ve continued to support and maintain Bad Company 2, we intend to continue providing the best Battlefield 3 experience we can well into the future and past the release of End Game and Battlefield 4.”

Tornay also pointed out some of the features there is a “serious desire for”—features they hope to include going forward:

* A better VOIP solution
* Battle Recorder
* Spectator Mode
* More robust eSports support

The game is also rumored to be in development for WiiU, PS4, & Xbox 720.

It's literally 'too soon' to even mention BF4 to the public. It probably wont be out until early 2014, but even so it feels too early.

Battlefield 4 will be set in modern times, DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson revealed at GDC Europe today. The game, which was announced with no pomp last month, will have a beta sometime next year, but little else has been revealed. However, with a lag time of six years between Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3, why did the studio go with Battlefield 4 so quickly instead of heading back to Bad Company?

"There's a lot of things inspiring us as to how the franchise will move on. Everything from fans' feedback, to market research and, of course, what we want to build ourselves. It's not just one single thing," said Troedsson, continuing with a hint of sarcasm. "And, yes, I know Battlefield 4 is probably the most creative name we ever could come up with. I can't comment any more on that games because it's all secret."

However, he did go on to say, "We still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is. We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful."

Hinting, in conclusion, "That doesn't mean there might not be a Bad Company game again in the future."

I'm not really a fan of the main Battlefield series, but Bad Company is total win.
