Pros:
- Mr. Bean
- Kenneth Branagh like a boss
- the rings coming together
- the James Bond bit was okay, could have been better though
- the Industrial Revolution stuff was cool conceptually

Cons:
- no fucking Oasis?
- introducing the four nations of the UK with completely random rugby clips
- the entire "boy meets girl" bullshit
- the kids' nightmares looked like a lame carnival
- Paul McCartney is awful, just die already

3/10, would fall asleep again

You could have spent all night with brit pop bands (blur are playing the closing ceremony iirc) punk bands etc. and i think that they're also getting the spice girls to do the closing ceremony as well, too much beatles for my taste.

All four nations are hosting events for the 2012 games, that's why they're introduced with the first verse of their national anthem, though why they chose jerusalem for england i'm not sure.

The whole 5 decades of music annoyed me as well just because it seemed pointless with a pointless cameo from tim berners lee.

The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner would've been so appropriate.

Anyway, cycling's going well, Roelandts is the fastest sprinter of the 12 ahead.

Bob Costas and Matt Lauer were fine, they only had a chance to say one or two things about each nation since the procession was moving so fast. And yes, after the US athletes appeared they talked about them a lot.

According to the track list in the papers today - they had Wonderwall and another Oasis track I forget and can't be arsed to look up in part 4... which might have been when the countries were coming out and everyone went to make a cup of tea while the commentators talked utter shit about the places they'd actually heard of.

I quite liked it, considering I'm in the olympics grouch camp... the NHS arse-kiss portion was sick making though - but I'll admit I'm not unbiased in my views there.

Seriously, this is why I hate watching the olympics, because all they do is show the ones americans are prelevent in. Awesome, cycling, swimming, and gymnastics. Show some of the other stuff!

Luckily I was surfing around and did catch the Fencing.. but now theyre showing tennis, SO EXCITING! (oh, now it's soccer, oh womens soccor, how terrible) CNBC is showing boxing atm, which is atleast better than cycling.

Any other channels out there?

NBC, NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, and a special channel for basketball depending on your provider I think.
