I'm not sure how i feel about that. It's great that the french aren't racist or xenophobic about sending darkies and arabs to sport competitions, but i am wondering if they do this while they simultaneously complain about how un-french and how they steal white french people's jobs. I do remember an incident a few years ago about french media being full of racist and xenophobic remarks against arabs when the banlieus blew up in protest.

It reminds me of how the mexicans are mined for profit in the US, while simultaneously being treated like shit.

Yeah, it's a well-known subject of jokes around here. You've got to admit, the sheer quantity is quite mind-boggling: from watching sports you'd think France is 52% black 46% arabic and 2% "others", if that.

And yes, racists do complain about it.
Jean-Marie Le Pen notoriously made comments about the french national football team being "too black". I think it was in '98 for some Alanisirony.

So, yeah, exploitation on one hand, condemnation on the other is exactly what's happening.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be off to celebrate Elodie Ouedraogo's semifinal place, sacrifice an owl for Anne Zagre's chances and protest the illegal veil-wearing in the streets of Molenbeek.

Honestly that's exactly what it looks like with the sheer quantity of black and arab athletes they've been spitting out. So far i have yet to see a single white french athlete.
