Sure a sellers market is whenever there is more demand then supply but it is still the buyers that make any "want" decision. Needs (food, water, shelter) have morale obligations and are generally enforced by law to some extent. Buyers always have the upper hand on any want item especially in a transparent enviroment like FFXI.

This is the basis of my argument as well. The staff is a luxury item. In no way is it a need (nothing in FFXI is a need). Therefore if the item in question seems worth the price to you, then buy it. If not then don't. In that regard, the buyer really does hold the power. Of course the wealthiest buyers hold the most power.

Regardless, calling someone a douche because you don't find their price reasonable is borderline retarded.

Why are people so mad over this? Just spend 45 minutes in dynamis and you can afford the crafter's fee. Or just use a small % of the vast amount of gil I'm sure you have accumulated.

You cannot say with certainty what the market will be like tomorrow, but it would not be unreasonable to expect the price of the staff to drop to something more acceptable within a week and that you could also get it synergized for a more appropriate price once the initial onslaught subsided. People paid huge amounts of gil because they wanted to have it right now so that they could say that had it on the first day, that sort of thing always comes with a premium price. People blaming the crafters annoys me, only an absolute idiot (like me) would purposefully turn away money that is on offer.
