I just hope this spurs enough interest in the game that I can sell my sealed CE I bought for my wife that never got used for something close to what I paid for at least.
They didn't say they won't be changing, just not as much as the rest of the overworld overhauls, we know Gridania and Limsa are getting new additions to the cities through concept art alone, but maybe the textures and the general layout of the cities will stay the same, and much like Stormwind in WoW the cities will be similar to pre apocalypse but will nuanced with changes like a wall blown out, or new buildings to enter, new paths etc.
The stormwind example is a good one, considering that stormwind was pretty damaged post-Deathwing. I'd imagine Gridania is going to get a Orgrimmar-esque update, simply minus the spikes and death everywhere. Probably just as charred, though, or it should be, what with falling flaming rocks and shit.
ill return to try it out... but tera has me by the balls. This better be good, and i need some actual game-play before i even try enter in my login info
I want bubble shield.
Had to happen. Either they don't explain it and leave a plot hole, or they make it more complicated by saying it applies to some players and not others.
I know, right? They teased that shit in 1.0 and never delivered. I assumed they were going to ignore it and hope we forgot. They could have gotten away with it too, no new players would have seen the Limsa opening CS. Now we see it bigger and more crucial to the new plot (time travel-ish), are they gunna add it now or have it remain that really cooling thing that you can't do.
As a person who bought the special edition and ended playing it for all of two or so weeks.. then playing it for about another two weeks when it was free.. I don't think I'll be coming back. Just came to post and note.. SE with a launch trailer that involved no gameplay, and instead.. dollified/pretty FMVs? Shocked. Shocked I say.
And I know it's an announcement trailer, but I really thought that maybe they'd learn their lesson and wait on an announcement trailer until they had something to..actually show.
Oh well! What's amazing is I've seen people on twitter already go "TAKE MY MONEY" and I"m like "...really? based on what?" :< Good luck with it all, though!
This is just the beginning... they'll be releasing a lot more info from here on out and it'll include gameplay.
It's a 1 minute trailer and we all knew it was going to be all CGI, why the complaints all of a sudden? Oh yeah, we really need to be reminded how much launch failed again and again because we sure have forgotten.
Wasn't it stated the announcement trailer was going to be strictly CG which is why they withheld it from E3 in the first place?
Which there in lies the problem. Smarter marketing for a game that failed as hardcore as Vanilla did would call for a different approach all together.. if they were smarter. Then again, this is SE, and trying to complain about SE not ever changing their ways.. welp.
But I'm not here to sling mud or anything. Just wish they'd done something differently with their announcement. Ah well. Don't effect me any :>
Chinajoy is still going, lets hope they'll show more stuff there.
Because it is a legitimate complaint by a company with a history of doing this. I know you're in a rush to get all frothy in the mouth, but whether it was announced previously or not, the complaint's legitimacy stands based on the fact that this is business as usual in how SE handles things. You expect a company still trying to clean the egg off their face from using this tactic before to, well, change things up a bit. Forgive me for hoping that SE wouldn't and will not march down the same path of CGI cutscene and website launch on their way to poor implementation of Alpha/Beta feedback and eventual crusty and shoddy launch, as opposed to doing things differently, showing more of their hand up-front so that they can take in and address feedback earlier, on the way to a productive alpha/beta (something like GW2's responses to feedback comes to mind here...), en-route to a successful and amazing launch. The jury is still out on my end but, unfortunately, they've shown more evidence at this point in time to the former ringing true, rather than the latter.
You temper your overriding lust to smack down all things complaint-oriented and I'll get ready to spew out some frothing hot fanboyism when I see some actual real-time action so that we can see if SE has learned or not. Its really that simple.
Can you guys not turn yet another thead into slinging the same horseshit back and forth like you always do?
Awesome trailer, has me even more amped for 2.0 with where theyre taking the story.
So once again this is a "positive comments about the same quality FMV's we've been seeing for years need only apply" thread? I'm sorry, I didn't see the note taped to the door. I'll see my way out, then.
Edit: The trailer was cool. Would watch again. Muted, of course.
No, not at all, I'm just simply asking you not to complain about the same stupid shit you do in every thread. You turn every single thread on this forum into the exact same thing.
I'm also not going to get drawn into a multipage argument with you like you try to get most people to do, so don't try.
Think they only complaint I have is it seems it was released too early, they said they wanted to wait till mid august and now decided to show it anyways without anything else to accompany it. We still might get stuff later this weekend though, and its nice to get a more functional site up and running. I do have some disappointment but its actually kind of obvious why they decided to release now instead of later. It looks like it was to coincide with 1.23 launch and little else. Almost everything in the trailer was FMV before and during the fall of Dalamud, the stuff current players are in route to experiencing now. I think there was like 2 scenes in that trailer that was FMV from the new world, the plains scene with the chocobos and of course the behemoth scene at the end. And yeah the complaint is legitimate, I am seeing it on several regular gaming forums that are not impressed in the least with the first moving thing they showed is pure FMV trailer, hell the original teaser trailer for FFXIV at least had a mix of in game scenes (but only cut scenes) mixed with the opening FMV so it gave something for people to look forward to visually while playing.
Anyways I'm not disappointed in getting something new, and its nice to get confirmation on what is going to happen to use before the 1.0 game servers shut down. Time to wait for the next update and hope it comes out soon. :0
Except he was the one who got jumped on for voicing a perfectly legitimate concern. The trailer is not 'awesome' - it's CGI bullshit and I question the intellect of anyone who has any reaction to it other than 'Christ, not this meaningless shit again.' There's absolutely sod-all to be excited about until they show something substantial.
can we all agree it was a beautifully stunning trailer but we are bored with (opening cs only)?
