Yeah, I wouldn't expect any miracles until post-Adoulin. At best, we'll get some lip service until then, but some of the recent posts have been... sad.

In the off chance that this ever gets read, thank you for all the hard work towards things that I've been enjoying for almost 2/3rds of my life, Tanaka
Where the hell is this suggestion of cancer coming from just pure imagination? He specifically stated his condition is non-fatal.
I think my venom for Tanaka has been well documented on these forums, I still wish him the best with his illness. FFXI can only get better with someone else at the helm.
I have two things to say about this.
First off, you need to take a step back from FFXI and think about life a little bit harder if you think damning some person over a video game is sane in any way.
Secondly, I never did quite understand the Tanaka haters. I think Tanaka did a great job on the whole in his career (some mistakes, certainly) and I have always felt this way. He made FFXI the game that I spent more time playing than any other game I have and ever will have played in my life, and I thoroughly enjoyed and am continuing to enjoy my time playing it. Best of luck to Tanaka on his health and future ambitions.
hypocritical?
had you access to my entire life story i would challenge you to find one instance of me wishing actual, specific physical harm on anyone because i thought they weren't very good at their job*
since you don't have access to such things, however, i will tell you you should have quit while you were ahead
*and tanaka's always been a joke; chrono cross is a mess and xenogears is like, fractally bad, in that every single aspect of it when viewed individually (except for the music and maybe the Giant Robot Arena Fighter) is exactly as awful as every other aspect and none of them can truly be isolated
as long as you agree secret of mana was good i will let you hate on the rest Scaevola
Well, I could be nitpicky and say SoM has some problems, but they're more coding than design. It's a great little game and at the very least Tanaka was putting WAY above his handicap on that one.
But then, he's always putt way above his handicap on FFXI, too, so ?????
EDIT: Okay, I guess I'll give Xenogears a little credit for actually seemingly understanding the structure of Epic storytelling, if failing miserably at it every step of the way. Fei and Elly are the central characters, but the narrative is less about them than the fucked up world they live in, and enough attention is given to the supporting cast that you really feel like they've all got some serious skin in the game by the final act, which is rare in RPGs even now and was virtually unheard of in 1998. It still does an at best extremely awkward job of proving the concept, but credit where it's due.
So what content is Tanaka responsible for? And isn't the new producer the one that did Abyssea?
