I had actually heard a tune in a rap song before and went 'what the hell'? Glad I wasn't imagining things but not glad that this is happening.

I don't listen to rap (with a few exceptions). But, considering the history of rap, I guess this is just par for the course. Not a fan of sampling other artists work personally tho. It is what it is.

Actually this reminds me of a song I heard the hubby listening to a song by N.E.R.D. I immediately recognized the melody as something I had heard before. It took me a minute but then it finally clicked, it was the theme to Ronfaure. I did a search for the liner notes, but could not find any reference to this song being sampled. It may be that not enough bars were similar enough to warrant credit, but I definitely picked up the likeness right away.

I think it's pretty awesome. I'm a Hip-Hop fan, though, so hearing those 2 come together is great. It all depends on who the producers give the beats to, though.

I first heard the Wiz Khalifa track a while ago in my friends car and was like "WTF This is Chrono Trigger." but he didn't know what I was talking about. It sounds pretty decent though.

Is it confirmed that they are licensing the actual songs or are these guys just using them without permission?

About two years ago, I listened to a random rap song on youtube that was sampling FF7's battle theme. Can't even remember the rapper's name or anything. Making me wonder now if SE is actually licensing their music out, or if these guys are retarded.
