Do PIE and DEX affect damage in different amounts? I assumed, so long as you weren't surpassing the cap on either one, you could use whichever you like.
For instance, as a member of the Maelstrom, sometimes I use the DEX+10 Storm feet to trigger some bonus effects on other gear. Is 10 DEX doing less for me than 10 PIE? Also, I use one DEX ring and one PIE ring, and neither stat is capped. Should I be using double PIE?
This unique predicament only applies to Archer/Bard, obviously, as STR affects attack power and is obviously weighed more heavily for the rest of the melee jobs.
I believe the "main" stat affects auto-attack (and light shot) damage while the other affects weaponskill damage. So, priority depends on where the majority of the damage comes from for each class. Also, the priority might also depend on what's more important for a certain event... such as one-shotting Razor Plumes with Rain of Death.
Both stats increase melee and WS damage, primary stats have greater effect per point than secondary.
Was a test done with ARC/BRD, or another job/class? With other jobs, that's obvious given that STR affects attack power.
As usual, the game is changing soon enough that I don't actually care that much. Just curious. It's been a while since I looked over that data, and I've long since forgotten where to find it. I did find some super old data in the BG stats thread, but it's clearly outdated.
Well shiiiit~ everyone's been lying to me then.

I couldn't reference a BRD specific test regarding the gains from PIE relative to DEX but considering DEX caps so early and ARC's damage, proportionally, comes much more from light shot than WS it's not like stacking DEX would be useful anyway as you should be favoring ATK (which as far as gear choices goes basically just means use Atk gloves rather than DEX).
