The relic shield is pretty meh. If it was like Refresh +3 or had HP+100 maybe people would use it. Spirits Within damage is HP based and blocks can be forced with Divine Veil for 20s every minute and with Aegis Boon every 45s for clutch healing/Stoneskin casting. These abilities really devalue the Block rating a lot, so in practice shields with stacked HP help you perform better than a shiny shield with some tiny bonuses on it.

I'd imagine it's more networking/LS than shouts. You aren't going to do 17m runs and speed kill Garuda and do Ifrit Extreme with shout responses.

That said, all the boss FFXI people should gather up so we can dominate

I'm in a LS, yeah. I think that is the case for most people.

Although, I do have a friend who has made it all the way up to ifrit with just shout groups!

You'd need a pretty quality pick up group to do some of the content in the relic quest. Based on what I've seen of the very few PUGs I've been in on my server, you'd probably have a better chance of winning powerball than clearing, say, the BLM faction leve.

For the most part, it's statics & small linkshells putting forth a combined effort.

I'm in Greys linkshell and we have about 14 members that been putting alot of effort since the weapons came out to get them. I've seen some social linkshells on our server that got up to the Ifrit but still you have to find a group of people that will stick together. This quest really emphasizes teamwork more than anything we've seen.

Is there a good place to look at all the steps to each relic path? I want to occasionally work towards the goals I can in my free time between not getting Hamlet seals.

Yeah only Ifrit extreme isn't PUGable for now, i have only saw one shout ever from same person for Ifrit ex attempt, everything else is cakewalk.

Unfortunately my playtimes are from 11PM to 2AM EST on weekdays. I'm on all weekends though. Really the only incredibly time consuming thing is spamming Hamlets. Everything else is just a matter of downing shit in time which isn't all that hard.
