I have actually done some research into this (for work), and in the case of rape, since a woman is not stimulated, the muscles that usually assist in moving the sperm to the womb and the fallopian tubes do not activate which means that there can be a lower rate of pregnancy in the case of rape.

We are talking about a lower percentage, and not some kind of magical anti-pregnancy thing.

Heh, I'd like to see the appropriately controlled study that determined that.

Actually, it's not that difficult. Pregnancies/Reported Rape.

    http://www.pandys.org/articles/rapeandpregnancy.html

You also have to consider that the risk of pregnancy from normal consensual sex is actual a lot lower than most people believe it is.

Okay, well that wasn't a study nor was a study linked. The probability of conception from consensual sex is fairly low and strongly correlated with age. The probability of rape may also be correlated with age. There's no study attached to the numbers in the article you linked or its references, so I can't say for sure whether they controlled for the obvious factors like age.

Heard from multiple sources that Akin is planning to release a statement announcing his withdrawl from the Senate race tomorrow.

They were the ones who elected a dead guy a decade ago, but in fairness he beat John Ashcroft

Tests showed that about 5% of rapes end up in pregnancy, but we don't know how many of those rapes involved penetration and ejaculation and shit, so yeah.

I hope this guy keeps talking. The more he talks, the better Obama's chances are.

Honestly, that sounds more like hoping than reporting.

His advisers said nothing, just two Repub talking heads.

Does that mean he won't withdraw tomorrow? Who knows, but the evidence is on the side of the guy that is running saying he isn't leaving the race.

And honestly, he has an 8 point lead, and is known for being this conservative. While Missouri isn't Texas, I would at least look at some polls before withdrawing (though I do know the withdrawal date is soon).

Hard to call a man with that desperate of a comb-over a quitter.
He's definitely losing that fight too, though.

Wish a subgroup of the US would succede from the Union, those only interested in the laws of science & logic. I really wonder how much faster that entity would evolve vs the rest of the world. This race has me extremely agitated with how much nonsense gets popularized. I do agree now more than before that there is a campaign to purposely dumb down the American public. Soon the majority will be nothing more than meat with eyes.

The public doesn't like negative campaigns, but that doesn't stop them from responding to them exactly as the campaigns hope they will.
