Aren't rights technically voted on because you vote for politicians, and politicians decide on rights and make them into law?

Those are natural rights.
Oh man please let this man run for governor and win.
In the real world, some group of people is voting on what is a right. Maybe its the SC, appointed by a president elected by society.Maybe it's society. Maybe it's politicians elected by society. Use a little commonsense instead of relying on empty rhetoric.
I mean, we could go by God's rules, but if i wanted those i'd vote repub.
Is he running yet?
Jfc, all I said was that their post reminded me of the quote lol. I'm well aware that in the real world we have to vote on what is a right. We even had to pass amendments declaring that certain things are rights. Just because realistically we vote on what is a right doesn't necessarily make it...right.
Can we put Republicans' right to vote up for a vote?
It more or less comes down to the fact that the Constitution already grants the gays the same rights as anyone else. There isn't a special amendment or law that needs to be enacted - it's already there. If people are unhappy with that, that's their problem. It's really not relevant to this country and their opinions shouldn't even be duly noted.
That's obviously not how it is, but I'd be equally offended at a special law that restates what the Constitution already says as I am at the fact that people argue it doesn't say it at all. The SC really just needs to rule on this, somehow. It can't come from the President or Congress. I know in the past, similar things have happened, but they were equally as wrong. (The spearchucker vote, wimmen vote, civil rites, etc)
Proposing changing the thread title to "Cory Booker Thread of Fucking Awesome"
Anyone else checking out his twitter feed during the Hurricane?
Loud, fat, pretentious, but caring (so long as you're a friend)?
Wow @ his twitter feed. Cory Booker is better than Batman.
Can you guys just elect him POTUS as a unanimous write-in candidate?
I'm tempted to actually write him in. If I thought enough other people would, I definitely would.
I'm tempted too. Unfortunately it won't go anywhere in this state. I would rather keep Romney from winning.
I would vote for him if I wasn't in a swing state lol
Because he's the hero New Jersey deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we won't elect him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.
Even if every single person in America wrote him in for President, he still wouldn't get elected. You have to be certified in each state first. Here's the list of candidates for California, as an example.
NBC just ran a little spot on Booker. I don't live in Jersey, but all I can do is hope he does try to climb higher in politics someday.
I know it's probably been mentioned, but after the great response of Christie for the hurricane, no one has a shot at governor if Christie wants to stay in. I've never seen so much support for Christie before, specifically in fire and police departments. The same people he cut the pensions of, and started laying off, are praising him for what he's done this last week. If he's on the ticket in 2016 for pres, then he'll dominate jersey (not that jersey really matters).
