The design of the shapeshifter was basically the combination of giving Alex 11 rough designs to choose from and then he cherry-picked his favorite aspects and those that would work well with the functionality of the board.

I would say the storyboard artists (Niel Graf) were more inspired by the Thing than I was. Alex did mention it to me but I was really inspired by Clayface from the animated Batman and a vietnamese springroll I ate in 2001. I’m not joking, that springroll disturbed me and I always thought it would make the basis for something weird. I mentioned it to both Ian Worrel and Alex Hirsch and they allowed me to mess around with the idea.

I just arrived back from a mineral springs resort that had no internet access, so I will organize my designs of Bill and Bipper from Sock Opera tomorrow and post them.

I find it funny he doesn't mention he is also working on upcoming "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" I guess he hates the management of Nickelodeon. anyhow I love his creativity:

That was a great episode. Probably my favorite of the season so far. They snuck two masturbation jokes in this episode, Either the Staff are geniuses or Disney board are retarded.

Storyboard artist on Gravity Falls.

Here’s a tiny section of rough boards I did for Soos and the Real Girl. I was super nervous, since this was my first episode, and some of these drawings are fairly mortifying. x.x I don’t know how Paul Robertson was able to interpret some of those Giffanies.

I was happy to get the section of Soos and Giffany in the mall because it has this nice little emotional beat of social anxiety —> comfort of the familiar.

Before boarding Soos and the Real Girl, we had a couple of days to think up some concept for the new characters in the episode.

Alonso came up with the final design for Melody pretty much instantly, and I played around with some Giffany concepts, because if I were allowed I would only ever draw villain characters from now until the end of time. Villains are just super interesting, okay??

We didn’t have the full script at the time, so for these early sketches I played around a bit with what kind of person Giffany might be. I always end up overthinking things like: Did Giffany start off as an evil video game or did she slowly turn into one? It must be pretty sad to be constantly returned back to the store, it’s like a life of … infinite rejection. I think that’d make anyone crazy. @_@

It’s a bunch of unnecessary navel-gazing, but I’d like to think that maybe some of that pathos shows through in the drawings. IDK!

Robert said: I’m one of the last dudes working on paper at DTVA (my friend Chris Tsirgiotis does his Wander over Yonder backgrounds on paper), I have to order my own.

First let me say if you’ve liked the last 2 episodes, give some props to Matt Braly who directed both of them. This episode was his baby and I watched him develop this thing from the ground up.

Second, this isn’t inspired by Friday Night at Freddy’s or whatever it’s called. It’s inspired by Showbiz pizza which most kids that grew up in the 80’s spent time in.

That was a another great episode and Stop Motion Animation is the work of masochists and dark magic. the credit jokes of Gravity Falls Season 2 have to be the best I've ever seen. God I LOVE THIS SHOW.

Gravity Falls S2 Ep7

HOLY SHIT THIS WAS AMAZING. how do they keep us guessing and we got an explaining why people at gravity falls are so ignorant. also that leaked picture of Oldman McGucket writing the journals was actually a diversion. it means that Alex Hirsch had planned on trolling us from the very beginning.

I LOVE THIS SHOW.
