How Pet Level Follows Ilevel (Posted 4/9/2014)

Hello. I am confirming that your jug pet level is based on your main weapon level, and does not have a random range. It will also be affected in the case you change your main weapon after calling it.

In regards to problems with accuracy on jug pets, we are currently working on adding food and new jug pets. Please give us some more time.

    New JSE Weapons (Posted 4/9/2014)

I thought the new weapons were for people who mained jobs that were not ideal for previous events, so I am a bit disappointed it is part of the requirements.
The materials requested by Oboro this time are materials that can be bought with gil, thus we wanted to make sure that players that could obtain level 119 weapons were all people that had experienced and cleared level 119 content.

What should those of us with no parties do? Should we just give up aiming for the highest level of equipment?
The content released requires a party, but we do want to expand solo play more.

We plan on expanding wildskeeper reive drops and adding new eminence objectives. This does not mean you will suddenly have a 119 weapon, however.

You can obtain 119 artifact armor solo bit by bit- as for weapons, I have passed this along to the development team and they will discuss it.

We want you to slowly grow stronger after you reach level 99, so as a rule we don't want to make it so that you can simply spend gil and suddenly become very powerful.

    Wyrm Blood (Posted 4/9/2014)

We plan on giving Wyrm Blood a use in the near future. Please wait a bit longer.

    Trust AI (4/10/2014)

The development team wants to improve the AI of Trusts. In particular, Bard trusts are complex to program for, so please give us some time.

We are thinking of making it so that when you are low on MP, Ulmia will use Pianissimo and then Ballad.

    Merit Points (4/10/2014)

We are planning on increasing merit point category caps in the June updates. Rather than being an increase in level cap for each merit, we are considering increasing the category caps. We are also discussing increasing the merit points a player can hold.

As in the past, we greatly increased the effectiveness of even level 1 weapon skills, there are no plans on increasing the caps for that category at this time.

    Job Points (4/10/2014)

It was shown in the recent Freshly Picked Vana'Diel that one of the categories we will be introducing next is Samba Duration.

On 4/18, we will be holding a Double Capacity Points Campaign. Please earn extra job points in anticipation of the next version update.

    Shields for Back Line (4/10/2014)

Since the introduction of ilevel, there has been an increase in one-handed weapons with magic accuracy skill. The development team wants to provide shields to go with these items. We can't promise an exact time for it, but it is currently being discussed, so please give us some time.

  8. #428

    Priwen (4/11/2014)

Although we make an effort to stop vague item descriptions, in this case the character limit was a concern, and we will reveal the effect of the Reprisal improvement below:

Blocking Rate Under Reprisal +100% (Normally Reprisal makes blocking rate x1.5, this shield makes it 2x)
    Reprisal Reflect Damage +50%

Some Random Highlights From Summary of 6th Freshly Picked Vana'Diel

    The New JSE

The Shield and Harp added this patch are comparable to the "Ochain" and the "Duardabla".

Many of the new weapons have enmity- attached to them. Please think strategically with these items and use them in cases where you do not want to gain aggro! Of particular note, the weapon for Ninjas also has this stat attached. This was designed with the Innin stance in mind. In the future we hope to introduce more equipment for Ninjas that help them tank.

We have received some feedback saying that it might be too difficult to obtain these items, but we believe that the difficulty is appropriate for items of level 119. I hope for your understanding.

    New High Level Mission BFs

    Ouryu:
In the past, the Mistmelt item was used to bring Ouryu down to the ground. In the higher level version, it can be used to weaken him. The method with which to bring Ouryu down is different this time, so please investigate yourselves.

    Tenzen:
The siblings' magic attacks will become more powerful as Tenzen's HP decreases. We believe the key to this fight is carefully considering when to mitigate magic damage, so please challenge it.

The cost of the BFs is 20 merit points at this time. With how congestion may change in the future this is subject to change.

    Sneak Peak of May Update

    Job Points:
    -New Categories
-CP will now have Chain Bonus
-Enemies from certain events like Skirmish 1, Skirmish 3, and Delve will give CP

    New High Level Mission BF:
-Legacy of the Lost Hard Mode
    -Another to-be-announced Hard Mode

    Special Bag For Equipment:
-A bag from which gear can be directly equipped from is planned to be implemented

    Mythics for RUN and GEO:
    -Along with these, job-specific WSs

    Adventurer Appreciation Campaign:
-In celebration of the 12th Anniversary of FFXI
-You can obtain Goblin and Moogle costumes from this event
-New Trusts: Aldo, Goblin, and Moogle

    Adventuring Fellows:
-Plans to hopefully introduce level 99 Fellows, Fellows affected by ilevel equipment, and quests for these

    Greetings, summoners!

The development team agrees and also feels that the buffs granted from Avatar’s Favor feel somewhat weaker ever since the implementation of item levels.

The team is currently exploring some ideas that they have and I’m happy to share a bit about it, but please keep in mind that this is only in the idea phase and nothing has been officially decided as of yet.

One example of what they would like to do is increase the buffs granted through Avatar's Favor and eliminate the negative effects applied to avatars while it is active. The idea being that it is a fully positive effect, and in exchange for this the perpetuation cost would be increased.

The team feels that removing the penalty and shifting it into a slightly higher MP cost can be offset by boosting your maximum MP as well as using equipment that reduces the perpetuation cost, making Avatar's Favor to have a lot more value.

Once there are further details, we’ll be sure to update you!

The Direction of FFXI is Unfriendly to Light Users (4/15/2014)

    Hello, Matsui here.

I've been reading a lot of the feedback here, and I think I can separate it into three major categories as "I want more solo content", "I want party content to be easier to participate in", and "I want ways to practice difficult content".

    1. I want to be able to slowly work towards level 119 equipment while playing solo.

We recognize that there are people with all kinds of play styles in the game, and we are discussing whether to add routes to allow solo-heavy players to slowly work towards level 119 equipment. Before we do that, however, we want to expand on the items you can obtain in Wildskeeper Reives (Although, this isn't to say that level 119 equipment will be obtainable from them).

    2. There is a large hurdle in organizing PUGs

When recruiting PUG players, it is inevitable that recruitment will hover towards higher success rates, and I believe there's nothing we can do about that. Ideally players that become experienced would go back and help less experienced players clear content, and joining linkshells is believed to serve such a role. In the case you really have to join a PUG without knowing anything, try to join groups of people that are less experienced.

I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, but we are discussing changes to the linkshell system to help support the community in this way.

While I can't give you a concrete plan, how the community develops is certainly a concern for the development team. However, the community isn't something that we as developers can create for you, so we ask for the cooperation of the players as well, to make playing easier for everyone.

With the planned introduction of chain bonuses to job points, we hope this will increase incidents of players interacting with each other and forming parties to earn job points.

    3. There are no situations to practice content

This has some to do with the community aspects I mentioned above.

As a first step, we are thinking of allowing you to call Trusts while in a party, and even taking them into battlefields, in which case you would not have to satisfy the complete 6-man requirement, and practice content on lower difficulty settings. We also receive feedback about how it is impractical to practice content when the entry cost is so high, so we are discussing slowly lowering the cost of admission of events over time after their introduction.

In order to make play in Vana'Diel easier for everyone, we will work on this over time. Thank you.

    Priwen (4/15/2014)

In an earlier post I had said the shield doubles your blocking rate during Reprisal, and this is incorrect. It in fact triples your blocking rate during Reprisal.

    Tunnels Are Too Dark (4/15/2014)

We had mentioned this before, but we are looking into making tunnels easier to see in. This is scheduled for the June update or later.

There were some suggestions to add torches for players to light caves, however because this is technically difficult to do, we have no plans of doing it.

    Operating Levers (4/15/2014)

To help players progress in the Aht Urhgan storyline easier, we are looking into adjusting the Operating Levers in Halvung. We can't give an exact time for this yet, but we will look into whether this is possible.

    Donate to Recycling (4/15/2014)

There's not a lot of new players these days, so it's difficult to obtain Onion equipment for this quest.
Actually, it is possible to obtain Onion equipment through Mog Gardens.

I won't tell you directly what to plant, but...they're Onion equipment, after all.

    Please try it out!

    Eminence NM Respawn (4/15/2014)

As was outlined in a post by Matsui, the NM goals in Records of Eminence were more meant as "chance encounter bonuses", so we have no plans to adjust the respawn times for these NMs. However, as an exception, because Bloodsucker has a long spawn time paired with a difficulty to distinguish from other monsters, we will adjust the spawn timer for it in the May update.

  12. #432

    MMM Aquatic Depopulation Team (4/16/2014)

In a previous post, there was mention of this event being broken. It was fixed in the April version update.

    Reprisal and Priwen (4/16/2014)

Damage from monsters like the Delve ones tend to be very high. This defeats the purpose of the powerful Reprisal effect Priwen provides, which would be especially useful on powerful monsters like these.
The situation is as you describe. Thus, we will be changing Reprisal in the May update. Instead of the current setting of HP/2 maximum reflected damage, it will be changed to HPx2.

  13. #433

    Black Pearls (4/18/2014)

Even with max bonecrafting skill, it is very bothersome to create black pearls as it is an HQ2 result of Shall Shells. If you could change the Coral Hairpin recipe to require 2 normal pearls instead, that would be great.
Would be nice to get them easier. We may consider changing the recipe of shall shells.

    Mimesis (4/18/2014)

One of the items required to open Mimesis is the Shotel, which requires a Tiger Eye drop from ENMs, and it's a bit bothersome to obtain.
It's true that Tiger Eyes are in short supply, so we are considering adding alternative ways to obtain these.

    Search in La'Loff Ampitheater (4/18/2014)

We plan on allowing players to search certain areas of La'Loff Ampitheater starting in the June update.

The Direction of FFXI is Unfriendly to Light Users Cont. (4/18/2014)

For players without experience in endgame content, I'm wondering if you guys could add systems where it's easier for parties that want to simply practice to form. For example currently using an orb will consume it whether you win or lose, and perhaps making it so that losing will allow you to try again?
The development team has discussed this in the past, however they believed the following things:

-Even if you allow retries it will not change the behavior of how people recruit members
Even if we allowed you to retry with orbs, we don't think players will change how they recruit members because they will consider the loss of time in the case of a loss.

-It will cause further congestion of the battlefields
Particularly if there are malicious users involved, allowing for retries with the orbs may lead to more congestion within the battlefields

In addition, such a change to all battlefields would be a very large adjustment to make. Considering the benefit such a change would provide, it was decided that reducing congestion was a better choice than to make the cost of challenging lower for the players.

Matsui had made a post earlier about the concerns of players that need to practice battlefields, and we hope you can give us some time while we work on it.

  14. #434

    Seacom Categories (4/21/2014)

In terms of the game system itself...maybe you could reorganize the seacom categories. I recall a post sometime saying that increasing the categories would be impossible, but perhaps reorganizing them would work?

Perhaps combining the "Mission" and "Quest" categories into a story category, and then adding a "Meet" category?
The "Magians" category is not used often now, and combining the "Mission" and "Quest" categories would not be a problem either. We are considering adding a linkshell recruiting category.

If you have further requests for seacom categories, please give us your feedback.

    /checkparam (4/21/2014)

This may be difficult to implement, but I will write out my request. Major stats are now available, I would be interested if you would display

    Equipment+Job Traits+Buffs+Meal total values of:

    Magic accuracy
    Magic attack
    Magic evasion
    Magic defense
    Store TP
    Haste
    TP gain, melee
    TP gain, ranged
    Thank you for your feedback.

We are discussing adding TP gain and Haste to the checkparam function in the June update.

Because magic accuracy varies depending on the spell cast, we are planning on adding a magic accuracy value that totals the amount from your equipment.

    Music While Fishing (4/21/2014)

Area music → Fishing music → Area music starts over → Fishing music → etc

Sometimes I like listening to the area music while I'm fishing. Do you think you could make it like the battle music where after it ends the area music simply continues?
It's true if you fish often, you would want the music to act like the battle BGM. We'll discuss changing it as you describe.

[dev1197] Job Point Additions and Adjustments

New job point categories will be introduced in the next version update, along with the ability to receive a bonus to capacity points when felling certain enemies in quick succession.

    Category Additions
Two categories will be added for each job with this update, with more scheduled for future version updates.

    Chain Bonus
Continually defeating enemies of a certain level or higher within a given time period will grant a bonus to the amount of capacity points obtained by vanquishing them. The upper limits of this bonus will vary depending on the level of enemies defeated, meaning that the stronger the enemies defeated, the larger the bonus will be.

    Adjustment to Capacity Point Obtainment
Defeating enemies above a certain level will yield more capacity points than in previous updates.

Additions and Adjustments to Capacity Point-yielding Content
Enemies that roam the following area used in Delve content will yield capacity points when defeated.

    Cirdas Caverns [U]

The amount of capacity and experience points earned from defeating enemies in the following areas while in a party will decrease less than in previous updates.

    Rala Waterways [U] / Cirdas Caverns [U] / Yorcia Weald [U] / Ra'Kaznar [U]

To start off, in the May version update we will be making adjustments to reive momentum bonuses and at the same time we will increase the opportunities to use bayld. With this, we feel that participating in reives will become one option for obtaining bayld. Also, with players participating in reives more it will make it easier to pass through these areas.
