That is incredibly frustrating news.. Should have known they were going to drag things out. After all the jokes about "Oh wait, I forgot this story, let's go back!" it's going to be ridiculous if that actually happens.

On a serious note though, I don't mind it if they can do it right. It'll be weird when they toss in a filler episode. And I like the actress they chose. She was hilarious in 30Rock, and just seeing some of her other videos on youtube, she seems like a fun chick

well the son does look a little greek and she is somewhat greek, ok your story seems workable for now missy but one slip up and it'll only last the season!

The show has been renewed for a ninth and final season.[5] On May 16, 2013, CBS' president Nina Tassler and the show's co-creator Carter Bays confirmed that the ninth season will take place only during the weekend of Barney's and Robin's wedding and that every other main character will meet the mother before Ted does.[35]

so if it is literally 24 eps over 3 days then it doesn't look like we'll see there relationship bloom

I'm remembering the episode where Ted meets Stella on the sidewalk and how that's literally all that happens that episode, then the next episode follows up on that. I think I might just skip all of next season and just binge all 24 episodes at the end. It'd be less painful that way.

Bumping from a few pages back. The reason being that I'm sitting here watching a rerun of the show (season 1, episode 21 to be exact) and even so many years ago, Ted went over a checklist of all the things his perfect girl would be:

Ted recaps other aspects of her file his future self didn't mention when riding in the Metro News 1 van with Robin to his date (this discussion is based off of Ted's "perfect woman" checklist):

"She's looking to get married...?" (asked by Robin)

Looking at that list, obviously the mother covers playing Bass Music already. But I thought it would be interesting to see what other ways the show writers would make the mother like to match the list. The writers always do a good job of foreshadowing and covering little details from earlier episodes

iirc first time we see the kids grown up

Each time the show start with the kids, it feels like they reused the same intro as Season 1 lol

They did. They shot all the kids scenes in season 1.

Yeah, I think the final scene with the kids was recorded back during season 2.
