Ended up catching up on the manga, and then watched episode 25. Really love how the story has been developing. Going to be looking forward to reading Magi every week. Really wish I was able to just read into the future and not wait though.

Don't really like how they changed the story up in the last few episodes of the show though. Aside from that though the anime was great. Dancing Morg was infinitely more hhnnggg and olev than the few panels she gets in the manga.

Apparently a new season was announced. I for one prefer the manga quite a bit more over the anime though. The anime in the first season went through roughly 4 chapters per 1 episode and just glossed over so many things. The manga is pretty boss though, really enjoy reading it every week. The latest story arc has been great!

Yeah the second season was confirmed at minimum over a week ago.

And eh? Besides the change to the first episode, from then on until they reach Sindria is exactly the same as the manga, not missing a single thing. They covered 4-5 chapters per episode yeah, but they did so pretty much perfectly.

Last arc not withstanding of course, since they changed it for some stupid reason. Animated Morg dancing will always > her 2-3 panels of dancing though.

Nothing wrong with the anime, if it's interesting enough and there's a manga around then the manga gets more exposure. I sure as hell wouldn't have started reading Magi without having first watched the anime. Also that the anime was animated so well that it's worth watching anyway.

I marathoned the show in one day and then started reading the manga right after. I'm fairly positive everything, sans the parts I mentioned, was literally exactly the same.

Well, there were some parts that were in the anime but not the manga, but that's the opposite of what you're talking about.

Take this latest dungeon for example. In episode 20 they go from departing to the dungeon from Sindria to being in the dungeon by the end of the episode. They completely bypassed meeting up with Alibaba's brothers, the village chieftain, bumping into the 3 villains a 2nd time after arriving at the island, and the little girl not only accompanying them to the dungeon but asking once again to be taken with them inside to save her parents.

On top of that, the curse magic cast on Sinbad and Alibaba was presented before the Zagan dungeon in the anime, where as it happens after in the manga. Aladdin and crew were sent to the dungeon to capture it as a training mission and to "work for Sinbad" (his own words). Zagan having a cure was something the anime added.

Take Alibaba's broken sword back in Sindaria as another example. In the anime when he got his new dagger Amon transferred over immediately. In the manga, Alibaba had to bond with his new dagger through training and only after that does Amon transfer. And when Aladdin is learning about magic and how to be invisible in particular, Alibaba is not present during the lesson in the anime whereas he is in the manga. The manga also has a scene dedicated to teaching Aladdin about magic that was completely left out of the anime as well.

In fact, go to here and click on every episode. At the bottom they list all the differences between the manga and the anime. Some are slight, and some are quite big. Some episodes are spot on like you said, and some tend to deviate in quite a few areas. Most of it doesn't really happen until just as the Balbadd arc is ending.

I agree entirely! And them working together, especially with Aladdin providing Alibaba tons of fire magoi to keep him charged up, just adds to the excitement of what should be coming in the next few chapters

/facepalm. You could technically get me with the snake bite since it technically bit him right before he went to Sindria, but everything you mentioned is during the last arc that I mentioned was different for some stupid reason. That wasn't even a case of skipping, but of outright changing the story.

Magi 181 was pretty baws. Sense scans even put out a nice clean version of Alibaba looking awesome for people to color.

In the manga, the slime copies Ugo's legs. Compared to the anime, the slime copies Alibaba's knife.
The anime skips the scene in manga where Alibaba and Aladdin discover the eggs.
In the manga, the traps has spikes and a trapdoor. However, it's a blazing room with a hidden wall in the anime version.
In the manga, Jamil realizes he has been tricked by himself. In the anime, however, Alibaba explains to Jamil about his trick.
The flashback of Kassim only appears in the anime.

Episode 3
Manga Exclusive Scene: Alibaba's flashback of how Alibaba learns his swordplay occurs during Jamil's fight.

Episode 4
The manga has one of the Kou Empire soldiers threatening to kill Toya with a knife.

Episode 5
In the manga, Kouga Clan ambushes Hakuei and Seisyun in the village. Compared to the anime, this occurs at a canyon.
Scene Altercation: In the manga, a soldier reports to Hakuei that the Kouga Clan attacked them. Whereas in the anime, a dead Kou Empire soldier is used to confirm that Kouga Clan initiated the fight.

And so forth and so forth. Albeit, they are minor changes and the examples I went with were all drastic changes.

So to summarize, I'll just say this and I hope we can agree: The first few arcs up the Balbadd were mostly accurate (I'll admit being wrong with skipping major bits, but lot'sa minor stuff was passed/changed). And everything after that was a clusterfuck of an attempt to wrap up the season

Agree we shall, and indeed what a clusterfuck it was. Morg's scenes that arc though, especially the dancing, were enough to make me forgive all the wrongdoings. Also the blond dfc general is <3.
