I'm sure I would get banned for doing it in just a few weeks now. It's a lot more suspicious and attention drawing than a fishbot. I believe they were deciding the course of action to take before proceeding as they did and that people who continue to bot cruor will be punished.

its a hard thing lol if I had the bots to do it I am willing to bet I very well would of done it.

it was about 2gil/cuor? the numbers are scary.

6 accounts at is 1.2mil an hour thats 2.4mil per hour. even if only doing 12 hours farming and 12 hours selling(all bots mind you) thats 203million gil per week almost or at the damn spam rate $1,218 per week on a game LOL.

    blame people abusing it

i doubt it was a "warning" it was just the first wave. I'm guessing anyone who made considerable amounts of gil (hundreds of millions) off of cruor will be banned within the next month

I'm complaining about it and I've maxed four of them. One of them's a melee atmacite but I never go melee to vw anyway. Fuck this shit, glad I finished my relic before this happened.

Tinfoil hat here, but there's no reason to think that they haven't been actively or passively monitoring Abyssea areas for obvious signs of cruor botting/gil converting alliances and are prepping a ban. It makes no sense that they would do this over two years after Abyssea was introduced unless they had a very specific reason to do so. The timing seems relevant also as I know for a fact that cruor botting has been accelerating rapidly over the past few months. It was quickly becoming far more of a threat to the economy than RMT is or has been at almost any point in FFXI's history, as Mojo has pointed out already in more ways than one.

And no, I don't actually think anyone will be banned, but as they've emphasized in the past, they can ban anyone for any reason or no reason at all (and botting is a valid bannable offense anyway, especially when the result of it has the potential of immeasurably and almost irrecoverably screwing up the game's economy).

There seems to be some JP responses to the nerf, but I have no idea what they are saying. Anyone have any idea?

The bot I made was getting around 380k cruor per hour steady (when my internet wasn't going to hell.) This could have been improved if I was able to spend more time on it. It amounted to about 2 billion gil per week for the alliance, if uninterrupted. I was not the first and not the only one doing this. The number of alliances that were botting cruor was increasing at an alarming rate. It was getting very close to the point where extreme amounts of inflation were about to occur because a large amount of this gil was being circulated into RMT.
You've never pissed me off on these forums, and I've got nothing against you...but considering you said you're going to deactivate your accounts, if SE doesnt do anything about people (and there were a lot) who did this, thats the point of nerfing it?

I'm just curious about the JP view on this nerf.

Actually a lot of the posts there are talking about Azouph Greens/Sharug Greens (lol?). I'm not sure what the deal was with those, but it sounds like they're a little tweaked over that because some people were actually gardening those, but they nerfed the resale value because they were available from resistance ops (bastion stuff). The other responses are consistent with the general sentiment, ranging from it was overdue to why didn't they warn us, etc.

So anyone want to play armchair economist and guess what this will do to prices on things like currency and whatnot?

    Likely decreasing or stable prices.

    1. If Dynamis attracts former cruor farmers, more currency (Supply increases)
    2. If cruor supplied gil for casuals buying relics, this undermines motivation (Demand decreases)
    3. Many people have bought their relics and since this update increases the value of gil, hoarding gil is reasonable

I think they will likely remain about the same, perhaps dropping a tiny bit due to the small inflation that had occurred due to blinkers (maybe only visible on Fenrir and other servers where alliances were doing this.) I don't think it spiraled out of control enough to effect serious changes to the economy.

    1) People will flock to Dynamis for gil farming, supply will increase, price per unit will decrease.

    2) People will flock to (Hak/Gug/Lik/Matsya/Trumpet Shell) fishing-- demand for Lu Shang & Ebisu will increase; supply for Matsya should increase with price decrease. Gug/Lik prices should plummet. Trumpet Shells may become a substandard for (Bonecrafters) with fishing again. Sushi/Marinara Pizza (+1) prices will destabilize again on some servers.

2a) Hakuryu/Kokuryu/Soryu/Sekiryu is next threatened target by RMT/super botters, and by extension SE nerf hammer. Demand for Sinking Minnow/Minnow/Sardine Balls/Meatball (Hare Meat) increase along with price.

    3) Demand for Relics will decrease without "easy money" or people opting to sit on gil for other ventures instead.

    4) Eventual Alexandrite price decrease, as peoples gil banks dry up. Supply will see no change.

    5) Possible price increase for Heavy Metal/Riftcinder/Riftdross to make up for cruor nerf.

    6) Hexed -1 synthesis may see a price increase as there are still too few crafters who can create the items and now there is no gil cushion for NQs that they produce.

    7) Consumables likely to decrease across the board as some crafters go back to tried and tested gil methods.

8 ) Neo Nyzul Isle farming PTs may take a hit (demand decrease) in the coming months with casuals no longer having quick easy money.

I'd actually argue against the Riftcinder/Riftdross hike, unless supply is somehow affect by this. A large amount of those items were purchased by botters, at least on Fenrir.

Throwing in my guess at the economy fallout. Only other thing to do with Cruor that would get you cash is buying VW cells (Cobalt and Rubicund) to put up on AH. Everybody and their ugly mother is going to be doing that since it's the only unchanged way to burn cruor into gil now, so the prices on those is gunna tank pretty nicely. Well, more than it already has anyway.

Gil under mattresses. Heading out to Californee. Tell me about the rabbits, George.

The reason why I believe they may hike as well is due to the simple fact that cruor dropped in value. After a while, players simply did top tier VW without cells for pure cruor output (some dual/tri/multi boxing). Now that cruor is worth less, people might not spam the higher tiers as much outside of those that want to try for abjs/borealis/locket/mail, decreasing the supply of Riftcinder/Riftdross indirectly.

The silliest thing about cruor was the fact that it was uninhibited by "drop rate", just needed to cap lights/add jade cell.
