    HALP!

    Is there any mmo game out there that is more like old XI? Not quite as actiony as most mmos are these days and focused on group play.

    unfortunately not really so much possible in that way anymore. That type of game has gotten killed since everyone either wants to copy the WoW model or the freemium model.

    If you've never played "EverQuest," that's an option for you. It was the primary inspiration for "Final Fantasy XI," and has largely ignored the march of progress.

    Old school MMO's are getting harder and harder to find these days. But there are some out there...

    Vanguard

    This game is actually getting support from SOE now and just recently had an expansion, and has a freemium model.

    This is an old school mmo that is currently in CB. But they are giving away keys like crazy. This is a Chinese sandbox mmo that is coming here to NA. It's getting good reviews.

    This is supposed to be released on Dec.12th. It's old school but it has FFA full loot PVP.

    The concept of Age of Wushu is cool. I love that era of asian movies.

    You could always play ffxi on a private server. I played on sinister skies for about 6 weeks and it was pretty good. All windower elements work as well as Kparser and Apradar. Since it is a private server there are some things that do not work and other things that are completely different. Main things imho are: 75cap, triple exp(at lvl 44 ninja I was soloing 50k/hr), gil is a non issue and everything is buyable(all mobs drop gil). I left as I'm just over ffxi and done with it.
