While I would still easily put Fringe's first couple episodes well above SHIELD, anyone who says the first couple episodes of Fringe were amazing and well acted (once again, Noble aside) is in denial.

Watched tonight's episode. This show does have some potential but there is some bad acting they need to overcome (can't stand Skye).

I'm enjoying this show so far. It's in a killer time slot but I think it will grow its legs and do pretty well.

    I'm happy with the show.

Honestly, at this point, I think most people's hate on the characters is a defense.
So you can feel happy instead of sad when Whedon corpses one of em'.
Only then will the attachments begin.

whedon hasn't had anything to do with the show past the pilot iirc

He also didn't personally do every episode of his other shows.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joss_W...vision_credits

And if you look at the writing credits of the SHIELD episodes, it's the Mutant Enemy writing crew. You know, the people besides Whedon that worked on other episodes of the shows.
He may be busy with some other things, but believe me, nothing is safe, and you likely will see his name pop up in the writing and directing credits from time to time. And his influence will be there even uncredited, if he hangs around the writing room (which is likely, because despite all his talents, he's a writer first and foremost).

(Also, that's random, apparently tonight's episode was directed by B'Elanna Torres.)

Defense from the thing that is the VERY NEXT STATEMENT IN MY POST.
You even quoted it, but I'll bold it just for you.

She's actually directing episode 4 (was just looking at the Wikipedia page for the show), she's been a TV director for awhile now. Done episodes of Lost, Heroes, Caprica, The Mentalist and a bunch of other stuff I can't recall of the top of my head.

    Whoops, you're right, I goofed.
But yar, I know almost all Trek members generally try their hand at directing during their run, and that Frakes, Burton, and McNeill have gone to it full on, but I didn't know about her.

No one here can tell me they didn't at least enjoy seeing Skye run in the dress.

  15. #135

I pretty much enjoy all of Skye.

That said, I think the problem is the show is a bit campy when it should probably be more dark/gritty. The campy shit works in the movies because the actors are better and there is action/seriousness to the whole thing, on TV that same formula seems out of place.

Dunno why all the Skye hate when the tech geeks are so forgettable I wouldn't miss them if they suddenly stopped appearing in episodes with no explanation (a la the younger sister on Family Matters).

    Skye looks like alyssa milano.

I guess they have to build some story line with Skye & Ward. Last EP was great.

And it also sets us up with what I was hoping the show would originally do, give some super heroes/villains that would never make it into a movie some airtime.

Pacing is bad, but I enjoy it a lot. I will continue to hold out for one season and hope things continue to advance well.

She looks more like Olivia Munn and Eliza Dushku had a baby.
