Thank god for other ways
As first revealed last December, Square Enix is bringing Final Fantasy V and "other games" to iOS.
A leaked Japanese magazine scan shows how much Japanese gamers can expect to pay for this: Final Fantasy V, which is listed for iOS and Android, is priced at ¥1,800 or close to US$19. That's a lot!
But, if you are a diehard FFV fan, perhaps you are willing to shell out for the touch-based controls. This is the GameBoy Advance version, and it does feature polished 2D graphics. All that costs nineteen bucks, huh?
Final Fantasy V will be out on smartphones in Japan on March 28.
Also better version of the battle screen

And yeah Faris looks more purple in those screen
In b4 more RPG maker rage like some did for Dimensions
Any mention of android release? At work, unable to internet.
The sprites look hilarious
Android this summer it seems
Fuck mobile, where's my vita port?
Those images better be a stupid joke.
Also the site from the pictures says that the english version might not be at the same time as JP, only time will tell
but yeah 19$ might wait for the other method
Also the game seems to be the GBA version with updated graphics (so the 3 new jobs and new bosses)
Man, bad clash of three styles in those images...
The Amano portraits, with that font, up against those SAIx2-filtered looking sprites. Mobs look good....at least?
Oh c'mon, you don't need to be lowly pirate scum for delicious FFV enhanced on iOS. Its worth it and this release seems to be the most promising. I think the iOS FFIV release was on wednesday while JP got it thursday, or maybe they are talking about the android release, FF games on android launch much sooner in JP before Worldwide. There FF iOS release track record has been phenomenal.
I'm curious what music and translation they will use. I hope its a slightly enhanced of the original since the GBA bass went to shit.
Oh and on the subject of "FF VITA WHERE SE!!?!?!?" I'm willing to bet they will soon release a FFVI iOS enhanced port like this and bundle iOS FFV and FFVI together on Vita. It seems very likely.
I'd like all these ports to make their way somewhere that isn't mobile. 3DS/PSP/PSVita, I don't care really, but I'd like to be able to play them without needing to charge my phone every few hours. And those horrible on screen controls... ~_~
Weren't they all on different disc instead of 2 games on 1? If so then that model makes sense. @Taco new devices have gotten much better at handling battery with games, 2D is nothing now. Touch controls on menu based games are completely fine unless you have gargantuan pizza greased meat claws or something.
Yes they were all on different discs
Why would they release a game on a system that 3 people have?
The combat controls in Dimensions wasn't bad, but I absolutely hated the virtual D-Pad on my iPhone5. I suppose on an iPad it may be better, but I hated it on the phone. Battery isn't terrible, but I tend to play FF games in really long stretches. The 3DS battery life isn't anything to write home about don't get me wrong, but at least my charge cable is longer than a foot or whatever the default iPhone5 cable is. I also found playing while charging a tad uncomfortable with the plug kind of annoyingly sticking out of the end so I couldn't grip the phone like I usually do.
