    Age of Wushu

    http://www.ageofwushu.com/

Anyone playing this? From the wiki:

Players will initially select one of eight factions, and then gradually develop their characters, learn new skills and engage in PvE and PvP content. The game doesn’t feature a class system, so all skills are open to choice. Other elements of the game include solo and party dungeons, an equipment system, crafting and professions, a housing system, and mounts. A unique feature is that every player will stay in game as an NPC when logged off, allowing for a persistent game world.[2] The game will feature 8 player factions: Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Beggar, Tang Clan, Junzi Hall, Royal Guard and Paradise Valley.

Basically, its Eve Online training system + Territory control + Economy in an asian wuxia setting. The combat system is action based and plays out like a fighting game. Honestly, this is one of the best MMOs I`ve played in a long time and it has me absolutely hooked. People are saying its reminisce of AoC and SWG, I`ve never played either so take that for what you will. It`s a true sandbox MMO. It`s currently free (10 hour a day trial) or CBT2 VIP (Paid 19.99) or wait until F2P launch in January (no more 10 hour limit). I`d recommend getting into VIP, it`s worth it. It's going on until mid January I believe.

Misc features off the top of my head:
-Completely open PVP and bounty/jail/justice system
    -Action/timing based combat
-True sandbox MMO: the entire world is open to you (some dungeons not yet) with many random elements that regulate growth in a true sandbox. For example, some quest rewards are COMPLETELY 100% random- you could get shit to a 1 of a kind item.
-Can learn all skills on any char. Character has no limits.
-Kung fu action from air fighting, wall running, air dashing, ground dashing, blocking, parrying to combos and finishers. This game's combat system is awesome
-NOT FOR PUSSIES. Gtfo carebears, this game isn't for you.

I'll try to provide some more info and insight to help garner up some interest in this game.

First, every class has access to 3 initial skills that are exclusive to that school. I mentioned earlier that you could learn every skill in the game, and the way that works is simple: every weekday there's a 30 minute war between 2 schools that'll let you invade/defend to steal skills from that school. Instead of learning these books then training the skill naturally like the students of that school you will need to find a book for every level, so naturally its more difficult to become more proficient than a student at his own school. IE: Use Level1 book > Use Leve2 Book > Use level3 Book etc etc

There are also books that are not school exclusive books (tonnes, actually) that come from instances, events, pure randomness. Many books are REALLY rare and can be compared to "legendary" class weapons that require months of effort to attain. You can mix and match skills from all schools and all books assuming you have the right weapons equipped. The only downside from using skills from different schools is that it triggers a 7 second global cooldown on every skill; so they're benefits to sticking exclusively to 1 school and only timidly expanding your set instead of amassing all the skills. Basically, there's tonnes of room to mix and match skills to suit your playstyle.

Second, this is end-game. No, this is not your Guild Wars 2 casual faggot "all end-game" bullshit, the game is literally end-game. You will begin your dailies on Day 1. There's a storyline and plenty of story but many quests are simply "talk to npc, talk to him again, done" or "walk 5 ft and give item to this person"; this is INTENTIONAL because you're supposed to do these small "task" quests everyday in hopes of triggering a random event. What is a random event? After certain (random) conditions are met an NPC may offer a bonus item, new quest, or the conditions of the quest may change. This will vary from player to player and every players random counter is different. But of course, there is a *real* end game with impossibly hard dungeons and impossibly rare drops (1 boss from the hardest mode of the first instance takes an hour to fight apparently lol?) but you will rarely directly find items. You will only find recipes. You will need to work with a guild to successfully craft and complete these recipes. I mentioned skilled books earlier too, sometimes you'll find books of random levels you have no use for so you need to combine your resources to fully learn a skill set therefore end game progress is tied to your ability to work together not necessarily your own character.

Third, PVP! Structured PVP? Open PVP? Pking? Dueling? Arenas? Match making? This game has it all. There aren't 3v3 Arenas like WoW that I know of, sorry kiddos but there's SO many options for PVP I'm just gonna list em:
-School Wars: Script stealing, Spying, Patrol duty (to catch enemy spies)
-Player Guild Wars: Territory ownership, sneak attacks on strongholds, defense in strongholds, escort route control, official guild wars
-Guild Activities: Escorting cargo from 1 city to another; inversely, being a bandit to rob these carts.
-PKing: Kill someone for the heck of it? Get a bounty put on your head and have your name announced every time you enter a zone. Sign up as 'constable' to hunt these players and claim the bounty and put them in jail for fixed time based on their crimes. Also, they cant just log off to wait out the time, they gotta sit there in jail. The game even lets you, the bounty issuer, visit them in jail once their caught so you can laugh at them.
-Misc Indirect PVP: Kidnapping Offline Players to sell for gold. Kidnappers are marked and a open target for ANYONE.
-Arenas: Just wanna fight 1v1? Summon a flag that'll seek out and summon an opponent to fight in a structured pvp/duel format that outputs weekly rewards. the top 3 scorers (best records, I think?) gain access to a few exclusive buff trinkets.

That should be enough for now. I'm just scratching the surface, but basically all you need know is that the game will reward you for playing however you want to play. If you wanna just log on PK and ignore everything else you can do that and still progress steadily. You may even earn an exclusive title that'll let you train faster!

Enjoying so far. Reminds me of an Engrish EVE, only with some sort of P2W drama.

Hardly P2W. Gold, the real money currency only buys mounts costumes and consumables.

    The game has 3 currencies
Gold: Timed Costumes, Timed Mounts, Weapon Skins, Consumables
Silver Liang: Trade with other players, special services
Silver Coin: Only usable with NPCs

You can earn plenty Silver Liang in-game and that's what's used for the all the "p2w" benefits. Gold buys jack shit that can be considered p2w. Of course, if someone wants to drop a grand and convert it into silver liang they'll have an advantage, but it's nothing that anyone else can't earn in-game.

Loving it so far, so many deep systems to master and we haven't even got meridians on Na server yet. A Chinese player in our guild said once that system is implemented, many will quit. Can't wait lol.

Considering the Chinese version has a system of chopping off your dick and having to kill over 9000 people on a daily basis to obtain an Eunuch class it has signs of grind.

If only their English translation wasn't run through google I might be able to do more than log in and level my 1st school meditation skill. Since it appears lots and lots of content is still locked in OB.

Yeah there's definitely some P2W options but honestly it doesn't give you a major advantage in PVP. There's a limit to how strong your character grows vertically but they can advance unlimited horizontally. imo the game excels on the merits of its combat alone. I find PVP very satisfying and deep and it's pretty much all I do. I do some daily dungeon runs with my guild but I'm pvping and pking 90% of the time and having a blast.

Battlefields are not in the NA version yet so just untrack the quest for now. Me and the Hubby have done some extensive NPC searching for Steamed Bread and it seems the easiest way to get it is to become a Chef and a Farmer, grow your own wheat (doesn't take very long at all) and you'll be crafting the main source of nutrition in no time. If you don't want to be a Chef, just provide the Wheat and Dew and Shuichi can whip some buns up for you

Well, I logged in at lunch and had some "mystery event" or something happen when I was offline.. Didn't read it too well, not that it would help since the translations can be a bit off.. Anywho, it gave me 47L in silver, not coins, so I'll be able to buy enough bread with that for a couple weeks/months..

I'm not a fan of the daily exp cap on crafts, but its closed beta, so i understand the need to keep the growth capped somewhat.. Wonder if that will be a live feature though..

edit - Guess I have a real reading comprehension issue >.> Thanks for the offer, I will see what I can dig up and PM you and see if I cant cover some costs for you as well..

If you don't mind gaining evil points, kidnapping is a reliable source of income. Use drugs on an offline player (any) then sell them to a shop owner (usually indicated by OWNER in their name, Blacksmiths, Taverns, Pharmacys, Hostels etc are a good bet). You'll get 1 Silver Liang to 30 Silver Liang (the good stuff) and you can do this once an hour. You'll also gain some silver coin but you're doing it for the silver.

    Here's some quick tips:

    Leveling:
-There's an event NPC in usually near the bankers of each town that will give you a JET LI quest. You find Jet Li tokens hidden in chests around the world, you can exchange common tokens for a 250% EXP pill or gather 4 RARE tokens for a better reward. Do this daily.
-Do Team Practice everyday. Full 10 Man Team Practice will convert your cultivation into skill experience, you can expect to convert about 80,000 cultivation every, shaving HOURS off training time.
-School spying is a very good source of experience for cultivation.

    Instances:
-USE ARRAYS! Arrays give you access to a free 300-500 damage skill every 10 seconds which increases DPS in instances GREATLY! Earn this skill by completing the tutorial for arrays.

    PVP:
-Go to interface > Battle > Advanced Options and turn off cinematic skills. Having this off will stop your rage skill from cancelling if they move out of range.
-If you plan to PVP, once your internal skill hits lvl15 level some skills to 2-3 (only 2 or else youll have MP problems), this will greatly increase your effectiveness in PVP.
-Script stealing events is probably the best 'end game pvp' event, tho it's just a cluster fuck. Get familiar with how to steal scripts from every school and you can make bank. Some nights I make over 2 Ding selling scrolls. No minimum level requirement, tho I suggest having as many flying skills as possible so you can be ultra mobile and escape swiftly.

    Making Money:
-Many crafts have disassembled and and combined components which are always in high demand because they're used for ALL weapon enchantments. The economy will always need low level crafting mats so you can reliably create the enchant materials and sell them for 1L+ a PC.
    -Kidnapping as mentioned above.
-Farm Forbidden Instances (not challenge schools) for recipes and flying skills. Twilight Village has a chance to drop a scroll easily worth about 2 Ding and a more common scroll worth about 500L atm. Further instances are worth more obviously since less people farming em. Recommend IL20+ for TV

Bump since some friends and I just started playing this. I'm having a blast with the game. Granted, only been playing for about a week but I've not run into a shortage of neat things to do yet.

Epic kungfu chases across rooftops while spying/stealing scripts is so much fun.
