They did have to add the 360 Achievements so I imagine it'd be about as easy to add a similar achievement system if all it needs to do is scan for job levels/titles like the 360 achievements do. Then make it so that when people /check you it displays your achievement points alongside your title. I think it'd work within the existing framework, it'd appeal to the OCD MMO gamers.

An interesting story about Anastase, the other Adoulin NPCs, and the waypoints was published today on POL. Ends with a cliffhanger indicating that there's more to come.

I'm pretty sure that's less of a cliffhanger, and more of Anastase and crew arriving. The waypoint quests come right after that story.

I'm thinking how funny it is how apparently the leaders of the nations are nonchalant about the fact that people from a faraway land that has been shrouded in mystery for a long period of time have suddenly broken to silence to set up teleportation devices all across the land.

Giving how effective the three main nations have been in the past with various happenings through the story... I assume they're all even more useless then Real Life politicians.

Bastok, San O'ria, and Windurst all seem subject to the same kind of bickering, internal conflicts, and stupid decisions from all three sets of nation missions I've done. So they are all equally stupid just in different ways. I wouldn't be surprised if the adoulinites are able to work entirely under their noses without anyone noticing.

Jeuno probably does know, but Jeuno also has a tenacity to not interfer with anything that doesn't directly impact their interests as their research is not viewed as a threat.

Well Jeuno is kind of in a mess if we're following the lore, given all that happened with RoZ and CoP. I'm not entirely sure WHO is in charge anymore.

That maybe so, but it still seems like Jeuno still has more control in most situations then any of the other three nations do. Kind of shows how screw up the whole situation is.

I'd enjoy an achievement system. Something similar to FFXIAH's but more thought out and with a lot more depth.

Hell, they could even have achievements like complete x number of quests in category y, I'd say complete all quests in zone X (but they add new quests every so often) would also be cool. Give people some extra motivation to do that stuff.

I'm pretty sure Esha'ntarl is in charge or Jeuno now, but someone who is more familiar with the lore could verify that.

Well it doesn't take much to be less genocidal than Eald'narche and Camelnuts...

But yeah Esha'ntarl definitely likes the adventurers considering that she's the one who gives us the reward rings, and she says that she's going to keep the Zilart and the Armathrwn society in check.

Spent a few days with family so I'm catching up on the info..

I was surprised it's coming out so soon. It makes me a little worried that it was rushed. Maybe it has something to do with the test server? Idk.

"Too soon" is relative. After all, the first three downloadable add-ons were very light, content-wise, and while Abyssea was significantly more comprehensive, it still used a lot of copy-and-paste zones and mobs.

When you're considering development time, it's best to look at how long ago the last full-blown expansion was released. With that in mind, they've had plenty of time. Additionally, components of the add-ons and other content updates may have been building various foundations for the expansion's functionality.

I seriously doubt this expansion was even in the minds of any developers until XIV bombed and they needed another big thing to keep XI players hooked.

While I'm excited about this expansion I don't think it's a mystery that a lot of the textures and such are clearly recycled from other parts of the game.

He referenced the last full-blown expansion, I assume he means WOTG and not Heroes of Abyssea. It's still a lot less time to assume that they even started thinking about it then, rather than it being some kind of planned move when the last big expansion was released. Heroes was released 2 years ago yeah, but honestly judging by the stuff people ended up finding on the test servers it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't start working on it till about a year ago, if that, with a way smaller team than they used to have to work on this stuff.
