I agree. I love making the trip the first time I go somewhere, seeing the sites and shit. Should make you take the boat and just activate a waypoint when you land.

Have to keep in mind this is a shoe-string budget we're talking about. If we had to have a boat/airship zone, then there'd probably be one less actual zone to explore, or having to wait an extra 1.5 years for the story to conclude.

Honestly if the transport zone doesnt have something useful like an HNM then its wasted dev time. The ship to Al Zahbi was hot and then no one cared about it because outside some sights like an Apkallu flopping aboard or Dolphins it was a standard ferry. Give me a giant sea monster flagged for anyone aboard to attack with a 30 min timer that diverts the ship and gets people to ride the boat constantly or waves of monsters that culminates in an notorious monster that needs to downed in a time limit.

The boat is the HNM. Every boat is a 1:35 chance of leaving the dock and coming alive. Then you must battle the boat for your lives, from the inside. Also the ocean view turns into the random scary space travel bullshit from the Gene Wilder Willy Wonka movie. Now that's a boat I'd ride.

this pritty much, while it is nice for the 1. time its just a wasted zone. I would rather have the Dev-Team focus on more important stuff

Man now I'm thinking about fighting on boats. The game needs some crazy Ahab guy with an enormous city-sized battle barge to hunt down sea monsters. Make the boat trip a free-for-all zone with beseiged style combat for like, Salty Dog Points to buy things from Ahab. HNMs appear rarely, frightening off all lesser mobs, and drop gear that you can only lot if you actually contributed (kept track with a point system and if you don't get enough you get a message "The Captain has deemed you unworthy of a share of the booty"). And sometimes nothing appears because sometimes fishing sucks ass.

I'd think the whole of stairs town is accessible because the dats suggest you can go up all the way to the castle... Firstly by walking and then aethernet.. uh waypoints

What? Why would it be a wasted zone? It could be just like the Mhaura>Whitegate trip which is still a pretty important zone. Unless you're arguing the boat from Mhaura>Whitegate is now a wasted zone after that first trip?

Why are we talking about the boat, they have already said that we won't be going by boat or airship as its too far and they don't want to waste development on a one time boat ride. It will be by waypoint for sure

Anyway part of that trailer that shows a close-up on a proto-waypoint looks an awful lot like part of Jeuno, maybe Upper Jeuno. That's probably the way there.

but you have seen 200 peopel everyday in aery and never see every day 200 people riding a boat!

I think it was used occasionally for exp on spiders and flys back then. and its used for excalibur too. but yeah. still better then a boat ride!
