    Trial of the Magians Pages

    After Yugl created a template, I recently took up the rather simple process of creating the Trial pages for all weapons (1-3641). In the process, some of the old pages that were created were probably deleted; there were very few, so we didn't think this was a particularly big deal.

    Anyways, on to the point of this thread. Yugl and I mostly did this to see how the wiki would handle the mass upload, rather than to be actually informative and useful (also, a bunch of broken links are now fixed ). Of course, most of the pages are empty. You're welcome to edit the pages if you so wish, but I wouldn't recommend putting a lot of effort into doing so as we're currently looking into a method to populate most of the relevant information automatically using the already completed pages.

    Sorta necro buuuut~
    Is the mass-fill-out still planned? Though for the most part some pages already give basic information, having all of these empty trial pages is lame.

    There are also a ton of trial NMs with either no article at all, an outdated article, or a relatively basic article.
    For quick examples: Ni'Zho Bladebender has no page. Desmodont has a page that currently mentions that the placeholders are Blade Bats, the GoV updates changed those to Stink Bats in the same room.

    I'll probably take some time to at least update the NM pages with whatever information I have. [The above may or may not be true later.]
    Also, are we okay with displaying PH IDs on the Wiki? I'm not sure if that's too much or not, but I've noticed it's become a thing for some of the NMs on otherwiki.

    We're discussing revamping the NM templates atm. Some factors we're considering is how to utilize FFXIDB. Atm, for NQs we'll leave dorps and pop maps to FFXIDB. I'll be sure to include PH ID and possibly a XML line for POLUtilis users as well. Just been backed by tests to get our mechanics straightened out.

    As for Magian Trials, idk if Cair and Sept were working on that, but I don't think much has been done there.

    I've been trying various things with little success. :\ I actually stopped after finding out that guildwork may start pulling trial information, since that would make the process much easier.

    Slight update:

    All Relic/Mythic trials have been filled out.. but the augments have not been. There have been slots left for augments where they would exist.

    All non-elemental paths will probably be done soon, and elemental may shortly follow (they're the headache part of this process).

    That said, none of these will have the augments listed either except for the final versions, because there's no reasonable way to obtain this information. You're welcome to fill out augment spots on trials that have had their page filled out, and it would be very much appreciated.

    Further update: All physical trials have been added. I'll probably do WS paths tomorrow since they're fairly simple, and then process elemental trials every now and then. I'll start with staff though, and if anyone thinks any are more important than others, I'll continue through those as it happens.

    I'm only human, so expect some errors, but..

    Every staff trial should be filled out. All of them. The elemental branching paths should all have augments, too!

    If you're bored, the most comment errors would be:
    • A trial not showing branching paths
    • A terminating trial listing a "next trial" (this happens because of how I processed the pages, I manually corrected most of them but again, human)
    • Incorrect links/pictures. I make typos, other people make typos. All trials were based upon the requirements listed on the Category page. If those were wrong, mine were wrong. Also, if trailing links were used ([[Light Geode]]s , for example), there may be issues there.


    Lastly, the branching paths could use clarification as to what goes where (like this). I'll likely get around to it, but if someone else wanted to, you're perfectly welcome to.

    Oh, the elemental paths that aren't MAB/MACC/Avatar have a field in their template for required item augments listed as "Required.Aguments" instead of "Required.Augments". I know most people aren't going to bother editing those anyways, but if you were to do so, just a heads up.

    The following things have been corrected:

    • Augment path 4>8>8>10>12>14>14>16 started with 3 instead of 4.
    • Magic Accuracy weapons used the incorrect pathing altogether.
    • Certain weapons which used pet trials listed incorrect augments for weapons on Dark element paths.


    Also, Axe Elemental Trials have been filled out completely, including augments.
