This story reminds me of an old HS classmate who was involved in an sexual assault in a similar matter when he went to college. It involved him and a few others (a cop, too). Charges were eventually dropped for lack of quality evidence and the cop got a slap on the wrist for "poor judgement."

But the disputed allegations are even uglier: The woman, a freshman who had just moved away from home to attend college, told police that one of the male students had given her a drink earlier that knocked her out and that the trio then raped her as the deputy and another man watched and recorded the scene.

On the cell-phone camera seized by police, "males can be heard yelling, 'pillage her,' " according to criminal complaints charging now-suspended hockey player Riley S. Riddell, 23, and fellow students Scott E. Savre, 24, and Tyrone G. Orde, 23, with third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Sexual assault charges against three men, including a Bemidji State hockey player, were dismissed on Thursday because prosecutors said they couldn’t prove that the sex wasn’t consentual.

Bemidji indefinitely suspended senior Riley Riddell from the hockey team after the charges were filed in September. The Bemidji Pioneer newspaper reported that a statement from the school said “there are no plans to change that status.”

The Associated Press reported that assistant Anoka County attorney Paul Young said his decision was based on the quality of evidence, not because of doubts of the woman’s story.

Riddell, Scott Savre and Tyrone Orde had been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct. The woman told police that one of the men gave her a drink that knocked her out during an off-campus party on Sept. 19 and that the three then raped her.

Youg told the Pioneer, “We have no evidence of any type of drug or substance in the evidence that was tested.”

Judge got paid or someone did this is just to stupid of a sentencing. Also article tries to make these boys sound like they were raping in the wrong place at the wrong time and should be pitied.......

ABC's news programs (Nightline, etc) made it seem like Anonymous was to blame.
