Except that considering full 3D is the big thing, XYZ relating to 3D space just makes more sense.
You could think it's both, but unless Nintendo straight up says it then there's no reason to think both.

I've mentioned the XYZ/potential 3D thing on like..my first post But alas.
X is a deer that goes across the ground horizontally
y is a birdthing that flys up vertically
What would Z be?
If I had pro editing skills I would have put it on a game cover and the caption "Tried to told you I'm Thug"
http://gematsu.com/2013/01/pokemon-x...er-700-pokemonFollowing this morning’s announcement, a few additional details on Pokemon X and Pokemon Y have come out of the Japanese media.
Here are some choice tidbits from Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara in a note attached to this morning’s Japanese press release.
- In addition to existing Pokemon, there will be a large number of completely new Pokemon. The additions will bring the total number of Pokemon in the franchise from the current 649 to over 700.
- Because of Pokemon X and Y, the Pokemon anime, movies, card game, and merchandise will “break into a new dimension.”
- People around the world will be able to simultaneously experience “Real Play.” (I’m assuming this is referring to the game’s global October release.)
- The game will utilize the 3DS to its maximum abilities to leverage its overwhelmingly beautiful presentation.
- The game uses an innovative communication system that makes it feel as if you are playing with other players around the world.
- The bonds between players and Pokemon will deepen, and Pokemon will become stronger with the new battle structure.
- Everyone will enjoy the game’s scenario and music.

According to rumors on 4chan and other sites, the legendaries are based on creatures that live in the Yggdrasil tree. One of them if the dragon Nidhogg. Since GameFreak really loves dragon-type legendaries, I'd bet my money on it.
More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yggdrasil
Norse mythology in videogames might be a bit overused, but I like the concept anyway.Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the wyrm (dragon) Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.

Xerneas and Yveltal have been revealed to be the names of the new Legendary Pokémon.
This looks incredible...I guess I'm buying a 3ds
Wait a min...they couldn't make a Pokemon 3D game on the DS? lol Man, I'm surprised there hasn't been a completely fan-based 3D Pokemon game made after all these years. 2013: Pokemon officially enters the 32/64-bit era.... I might even play this 1 for a few days on the emu for some closure after all these years(stadium/cameo games don't count) not seeing 3D Charizards and shit.
Pokemon Z's legendary:
Spoiler: show
Can't find the link to it, but apparently theres an all-black 3DS XL coming out soon in the US. Wasn't a fan of the blue or red one, so more than likely I'll pick it up as soon as I see a deal on it between now and October. Was going to wait for a 3DS with the built in 2nd analog stick, but since most games don't support/need it, I'm assuming it's not getting made. Also I think I'm one of the few that wants to pick up Y. I think that deer looks horrendous, but the bird looks ok.
3D pokemon anyone?
