gotten it before, no problems. didn't this year because I got the flu itself first. Wasn't very bad, tbh. Over it in pretty much a week. Shot would still have been preferable. weakened immune system, etc.

edit: also, laughed @ miz's post about CS. Shit was good.

I've gotten the flu a few times. It sucks. I used to get the vaccine most years, but haven't the last few because i'm never around people. My sister actually got the flu a couple weeks ago though, and i managed to avoid it.

They got flu vaccines on damn near every corner store now. What's up with people refusing to get vaccinated lol?

I spend 5 days a week 10 hours a day at university in public buildings using public restrooms etc. And last year I had bacterial pneumonia that was probably brought about by the flu and chain smoking; flattened me for a week with the worst fever I've ever had. So, I should I guess.

As a "scientist" it's absolutely my position that you should get the flu vaccine.

I haven't due to pretty much never leaving the apartment these days due to too much work to do and all my friends just come here because my apartment is better. My interaction with people this winter has been exceptionally minimal. I might get it right before classes start up again, but probably not. All my classes have like 12 people max, if someone is sick, I'll just move the fuck away.

I don't suppose that convinced you to stop smoking?

My older sister and her kids are constantly sick with something, add that together with my call center job(sit at a different desk every day) and trying to immunize myself against anything is kind of pointless. I am going to catch it before it makes the news.

I prefer the take-lots-of-vitamins angle.

Personally, I don't buy into the hype of needing a flu vaccine. :tinfoilhat: My memory may be faulty, but 10-15 years ago I don't even remember it being an option. If we got sick, we sucked it up and dealt with it. Then again, overall I have a fairly good constitution but I should probably stop abusing it. I guess being exposed to chicken pox and never getting it made me cocky when it comes to my immune system.

Flu shot isn't about you, it's about you not spreading it to other people who can die from it.

I don't, but largely because I have a needle phobia rather than doubts about efficacy. Most of my co-workers have gotten it in years past, but several didn't this time around. Where's my herd immunity?

I'll probably be sucking it up and getting one next year, as I'll have a young child in the house.

Used to get it off and on which was semi-stupid of me as I am prone to colds it seems.

Past two years I've gotten it because of the pregnancy + to protect the baby.

Husband and baby have it, too.

Will be getting it every year from now own because, fuck it, it's covered by insurance and I work with kids.
