I don't get flu vaccines because it's a passive and indirect way to help curb the epidemic of old people we have in this country.
Probably get the flu every 2-3 years at some varying point throughout the year itself. Though, 2011 was particularly bad for me with pneumonia at the tail end of November and then a relapse/walking pneumonia later the coming February/March. First incident was seriously the worst I've ever felt and the only time I recall hallucinating.
But yeah, when I do get sick, there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it like family members showing symptoms or others I'm regularly around. So it just seems like dumb luck they're carrying or I get it at some random place when eating out or something. Figure those who never get sick are lying or lucky bastards. And I'd generally say if you can get some vaccinations, do it. Unless you want retard babies~
I had to get it this year because of travel reasons, but usually I do not get a shot. Young, no kids, do not usually visit old people, do not work in service industry, free boner pills but I still pay for this, immune system always pretends the shot is actually killing me, cheaper to lick doorknobs, etc.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health gives out free flu shots to all PA residents so I'll probably get one when I take my daughter.
Semi-related, when they find the vaccine for strep throat I'ma be humping the creator from sunup until sundown.
When I lived in CT, I got that shit every year, sometimes twice or more. Now that I'm in Cali, I don't get it as often (thank fucking God), but still get it ever 2-3 years. Hate that shit with a passion.
Just got the flu shot, $28, they had a clinic come to my office to give it to anyone who wanted it at the company. Never had one before I don't think. Make it stupidly convenient like this was and I'll get one every year.
There are HIV vaccines currently out in clinical trials.
The problem isn't infection people, it's that the virus mutates so quickly and effectively and there are already so many different strains that makes making a vaccine more difficult.
i work in a hosptial and the medsurge units are full of people fucked up with the flu. we just re-opened a wing that had been closed for 6 months due to the overflow. i got my shot early and i get it every year.
I was in the same boat. When I got my tonsils removed, pretty much never got it again.Semi-related, when they find the vaccine for strep throat I'ma be humping the creator from sunup until sundown.

get mine every year, i do some healthcare drives for the homeless population in my city at the local shelter and all the volunteers get it, on the house. imagine they'd look at you like an idiot if you didn't
Isn't it weird to think that our kids won't have to worry about Chicken Pox?
That's like...such a kid rite-of-passage - who doesn't have baby photos of themselves with chicken pox?
24 and never had em either
I hate the fact that I even have to ask this:
Can my employer force me to come in to work (come in or your fired) even though I have the flu?
I work at a hotel, so high amount of contact with others. I'm more interested in the legal aspect since this may sadly come up.
I went to the doctor to have an X-ray over fear of Pneumonia. Left with them handing me papers telling me to not go back to work for 2-3 days from Viral Bronchitis(really just a bad flu gone down to your chest.) I'd imagine anything like that and they wouldn't do shit to you. Just saying you're sick though? Might be in some trouble.
