She can do the singing just fine.

What showed in that press conference is that she's virtually always lip-syncing and doesn't have the mastery of her breath to do it live without regular audible gasps. The singing itself was still quite good.

To clarify: required to pre record. I think they make the decision to do it live or go with recording at the time of the anthem. Recording is in case someone is a dick. So that's why she recorded it.
