it's pretty much no wonder you don't like anything you've had to drink, most of what you listed I would not drink for free

for beer: you want to exclude almost anything made stateside, and locally made craft beers are usually trying to recreate a very specific type of beer -- you should know about these beers before you spin the bottle so to speak

I'm less familiar with lagers, pale ales, stouts etc but try one of each and if you like it, remember it, and if you don't do what I do and forget it


personally I like wheat beers, namely German wheat beers, these guys (and Belgians and a couple other countries) make beer according to 500 year old purity laws. A somewhat easily available wheat beer is Paulaner but if you see Erdinger on tap, try this, I love them both. I'm probably saying too much by suggesting you look for a Hefe-Weissen but if you check this thread on your phone, point this to your local beer store clerk


as for shots and liquor:
shots: swedish berries and polar bears both taste like candy that you've eaten and they do the trick. People that purposely drink something because it tastes bad are either still 17, have names like Brad or Biff (Brad with an invisible question mark on the end, like a surfer would say his own name and hear it for the first time every time) or they're stupid for other reasons

liquor: stick to mixed drinks or watch some kind of version of Sideways but it's about scotch so you can get an idea of what the big fuss is about (Sideways is about wine and is amazing for this aspect alone)
mixed drinks: long island iced tea -- if it tastes bad, the bartender has an extra chromosome or you paid $3 for it, don't go to $3 drink night and expect a well made drink
martinis: girls love martinis, they're pretty, they taste like hairspray, and have names like Sex in the City, I wonder who they're marketed towards. Don't bother with them until you actually like vodka*. You will always taste the vodka, it will always taste a little bit bad if you don't like vodka
*EDIT: apparently it is gin (again I don't remember things I don't care about or enjoy the taste), gin is awful and gives me a headache, no wonder I've never enjoyed a martini

cider: Strongbow or Blackthorn, do not ever touch Magner's or Grower's that's disgusting. I wish you could try Waupoos but it's Ontario only but it's the most crisp and clean I've ever had without that tart aftertaste and surely not that disgusting overly sweet Magner's garbage taste

For beer I prefer Yuengling. I'm a lager guy and its one of the better ones I've ever had and its cheap.

I'm not much of a liquor person so when I drink it its usually only shots. I do enjoy a nice rum and coke on occasion, can't go wrong with that.

"true" martinis are with gin, but you can make them the same with vodka (like James Bond's famous drink). Sex on the Beach isn't really a martini, it's just a cocktail, but it is often served in the same type of cocktail glass as a martini (as is, say, a whiskey drink like a manhattan).

Beers: I'm gluten free, so I don't drink many beers. I can recommend some gluten free beers if you want. Harvester brewing company out of Portland makes some decent ones.

Oh god at work and short on time I'll give full reply and anwser all questions when I get off.

Major problem for me is I live in a shitty little town I maybe 10k people. 65% of which is collage kids. We have 3 bars, and no legit bartenders just college kids needing a job. I'm mainly looking or something flavorful that I can make strait shots with or something I can easily mix to make semi strong shots (something like a screwdriver would be awesome but no where near strong enough). Saw a lot of good beer choices that I will give a shot providing they are sold arround my parts in piticular the German.

What I didn't like abou the beers I tried was the lack rich flavors combine with the poor taste.

I have tried a few cheep ass wines like southern home and hated them but like I said they were cheep as hell. Always viewed wine as more of a dinner/romantic type drink less of bar/party type

yeah... If you want to do shots, try a lemon drop or tequila with lime and salt. Soco is also a good recomendation. Also long island iced tea which you can probably get just about anywhere, taste like iced tea and are 99% alchohol.

If you want to acquire a taste for things, you are better off mixing and then you can add less of your mixer as you adjust. I can't imagine gin and sprite... eww, tonic is more appropriate. Rum and coke, whiskey & gingerale. For vodka I'd avoid smirnoff, Pinnacle and stoli have good flavored vodkas which go well with club soda, normal vodka can be put in just about anything.

For beer blue moon is a good starter, newcastle is also good, I really dislike Sam Adams but their winter lager and oktoberfest are good (just avoid their regular/plain beer) you can go to pubcrawler.com and find places in your area, if you can get a flight of beers that is ideal to experience new things.

I work in a bar and I have couple of drinks that girls usually like, one of them is called madras(vodka,orange and cranberry) the other one i have i forgot the name but the ingredients are Cointreau,lime juice,club soda and cranberry juice. I have other drinks with absinthe that are good because you hide the strong taste of anise one is the green lantern(absinthe,lime,midori and ginger ale) the wolf bite(absinthe,midori,pineapple juice,7up and a drizzle of grenadine).

For beers the one i love the most is Magic hat #9
