As a police officer yourself, what do you think should happen to the 7 cops that opened fire on the two women and attempted to murder them?

Also I doubt they're going to find him, supposedly he planned this for over a year. He's either long gone or he's got help inside the city.

I'm just waiting for the news story about the manhunt for a renegade cop that went rogue during the manhunt for this guy. Just manhunts begetting manhunts.

My money was also on LL playing him in the movie (hopefully a Lifetime movie because those bitches are crazy), but for everyone wanting Michael Clarke Duncan, there's always Tommy Lister Jr. They're basically the same guy. All I care about is Stacy Keach getting to play the sleazy police chief.

I'm sure Ellen DeGeneres is happy that a murderer was a fan.
There are two versions of it, one is clearly edited by another person that's not Dorner to contain all this retarded nonsense about TV shows and celebrities, /pol/ disproved it being him with writing styles or something.

I dunno. I wanna say they should get fired or perhaps brought up on charges for the incident but the details aren't completely clear and I've always said I won't comment too much on an incident till I get the full story. Too many "what if's" for my tastes. Supposed that they tried to pull over the vehicle and it didn't stop or they did get the vehicle to stop and something spooked them and set them off. Tensions are high (especially with as high-risk as pulling over a suspect vehicle with a possible cop-killer behind the wheel), it'd cause anyone to freak out and do something stupid. Attempted murder? Nah. Negligent discharge of a firearm in proximity to a civilian? Probably a better deal.

I'm sure a lot of guys here have some type of office bond with their coworkers. You see a lot of the same people sometimes more than you might see your friends/family and develop a trust or even a very close relationship with those people. You might catch beers, a night out on the town, or even have parties, go to birthday parties, maybe even fall in love and marry someone in your workplace.

It's different with public safety (especially law enforcement and firefighters) and is very closely related with the experiences you gain in the military. You develop all of the above but at least ten fold more. The people you work with, the people you hang out with, the people you bleed/cry/die with, there's a bond that goes beyond "blood" or "kin". That person sitting next to you could very well be the person who saves your life. You share some of the darkest most intimate secrets with this brother/sister sitting next to you because the grim reality is, you might not see that person later today, tomorrow, or 10 years down the road. You lead a very violent and thankless life. One day you're helping someone jump start a car and the next day, you're getting a knife jammed in to your side from some punk trying to get out of a seatbelt violation. The people you work with become your family. You spend a good portion of your life with these people. They come to your kids birthday parties and watch the Superbowl with you. Jokes usually revolve around your last case and great epic tales of heroism and bravery shine in your words as bright as the ribbons of achievement on your chest. Each scar and bullet hole has a story and a name attached to it. Most of those names are your comrades because they're happy to point out "Hey, remember when that guy shot you and I took the handle of my ASP and broke his teeth out? They scattered like your ass throws dice!" Most of your comrades have seen more of your body than your wife has in the past 6 months because you change in the same room with them every morning. Subtle (or not-so-subtle) issues like racism are part of a normal conversation. You don't see race, creed, color, or religion and EVERYONE is fair game at the tail end of a good joke. You're more than just cops, you're brothers. And everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) feels the effects when a brother is killed.

You could be the victim of circumstance. Like this guy (Dorner), you could one day wake up and (allegedly) be part of a cover-up and your whole life goes down the crapper because of one mistake or one incident. Not trying to say I believe the guy but if you examine police corruption throughout the years, you tend to want to give the guy at least the benefit of the doubt and no I'm not condoning his murderous rampage. I do think the guy is batshit insane and snapped. Your family could be the victim. Like this case, police officers are amassing personal armaments for war. They're gathering resources and investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in to personal protection for themselves and their families so that they don't become bystanders because of their doings. How did that one Captain feel when his little girl was murdered by this nut-job and she had nothing to do with the incident? You see it too much in the Law Enforcement realm. You think to yourself every day: "That sucks but I'm not going to let it happen to me." So you prepare. You invest hundreds if not thousands of dollars in to personal protection. My wife (and her brother, sister, father, and mother) has a concealed handgun permit and she knows where all the firearms are in my house, how to operate every weapon in my house, and is extremely proficient in the use of all of them. When my sons and daughter become of age (probably around 5), they will all be equally as proficient and will know how to correctly and safely operate all of those firearms. Paranoid? Over prepared?

My oldest son turns 5 this summer. I dread the day he goes to school. I dread the fact that he could someday be picked up by a total stranger alone and crying in a dark room somewhere while the pervert rapes him or eviscerates him because that's how he gets off. I shame myself for the fact that I wasn't there to protect him. I enrage myself for the fact that if the opportunity presented itself, the United States Armed Forces would have to bring every man and woman in their ranks to pry his skull out of my hands after I finish scraping every last inch of flesh off of it for what he did.

Do I seem like a fucked up individual because I thought of this? Scenario's like that run through my mind every day. Every day I sleep about 2-3 hours a night because I'm constantly awakened by little noises, constantly checking on my children and constantly calling/texting my wife to make sure everything is okay. Why? Because I've seen or heard of it happening to someone else and I don't want to go through that.

Your past comes back to haunt you. Could be ten, fifteen, twenty years down the road but eventually something can come back to haunt you. Instead of logging a stack of cash you found in a drug bust, you pocket it. 20 years later, someone opens a cold case file and finds your stack in a picture that never made it to evidence and your entire career goes down the drain. Or you're on the way home from work one night, you unlock your front door and get a shotgun blast to the back from a guy you locked up earlier that day who followed you home. You're constantly looking over your shoulder. You don't carry a gun for protection, you carry it because you're paranoid as hell. You reinforce your home, vehicles, and life (the minds of you and your children and significant other) to prepare for everything. Every cops home is a variable fortress. Every lock, every weakness, every portal, every entry and exit point has some kind of lock or reinforcement. You select cross fire zones based upon the orientation of your houses furnishings to select fire zones for suppression and choke points are clearly identified and labeled so you can plan the maximum percentage to survive. You always sit facing the door of every establishment you enter so you can watch it and you also know where all the exit signs are. You also always have a round chambered always and won't hesitate to put it in someone should the need arise.

TLDR: It's all well and good to say I think that the cops were wrong for what they did but you also have to understand the deep seeded paranoia and overall chaos that is unfolding over there is causing some of the most fucked up people in the world (cops) to loose their sense of power and security because one of their own single handedly destroyed any perception they had of safety. I can't say that I really blame them for overreacting and being extremely paranoid in this dangerous situation.

I'm not approving of what he did / is doing but it still doesn't change the notion that if he went apeshit on some random non police affiliated person who wronged him or ruined his life that this whole thing would probably be just another case number we would have never heard about outside of the American Shootings Thread 2013. LA is in lock down because he's targeting police and police related individuals.

Thanks for being brave enough to post something like that since I can't imagine being that afraid all the time let alone admit it. If what you're saying is true then it sounds like some police officers are falling into the exact category of mentally ill that governments in this country are starting to believe shouldn't be able to have access to a firearm at all. I can guarantee you that if I mentioned to the police chief that I've laid my condo out in a fashion where everything is reinforced, that I have set choke points, and have analyzed the whole place for cross fire zones I'd be potentially interned in a hospital on top of being denied a license to carry for my whole life. Or am I completely off base in this?

I would find this particular murderer on the lam much more sympathetic if his first action hadn't been to kill his attorney's daughter and her fiance, who were at best tangentially involved in this. Is he a villain terrorizing those who have wronged him or a rebel crusading against a system that has failed him for the last time? If he hadn't involved innocents, he would have had a better shot at the second interpretation.

Being dangerous and a person of interest doesn't mean LEO get's a free pass to KOS during the apprehension of a suspect, who as a citizen of this country is entitled to the right to a fair trial. These two women were given NO opportunity to identify themselves; the risk and fear of getting shot is part of the job and is NOT an excuse to shoot the fuck out of a truck that isn't even the make/color of his. It also further proves his entire fucking point; the LAPD has demonstrated the fact that they don't care about civilians with this action FAR better than ANYTHING Dorner could have written or done.
What? Nobody's said anything positive about that incident whatsoever. Your post got someone to kind of defend it, but you're acting like we're all saying that was totally acceptable and perfectly handled, nobody's saying anything like that at all.

It's hard to even say for sure he was wronged, especially by the person that defended him. It's not that uncommon at all for psychos to turn their anger towards people trying to help them when things don't go exactly their way.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

The Allegedly was in regards to

btw I don't know if people realized it or not, but the girl he killed that was the daughter of a cop...

the cop (her dad) was retired... he's now a lawyer... and he's the one that defended Dorner in the board of rights hearings

he's specifically mentioned in the "manifesto" and dorner accused him of only working to help the department rather than his clients
    Where you claim his guilt.
You may want to take the official story with a grain of salt, just like you're taking his when both sides are racking up appalling situations.
Especially when the official side is 1) the one he's accusing of all these horrible things and 2) the official side goes and proves his entire god damn point the next day.

No, it would "prove his point" if absolutely nothing happened to those officers and anyone that tried to do anything about it got fired.

Also, what "official story" do you think I'm taking as gospel, exactly?

I'm going almost entirely off the things *HE* said, not the LAPD. All I've heard from the LAPD is that they believe it was him, for the exact same reasons I do.

Wow, Odon getting all sorts of retard up here. So you think then it's some other random person who did these murders and not the guy who just posted a manifesto with names of people he's targeting, which included the people already killed. Even Inspector Gadget could piece that together and come to the conclusion it's him.

I'm playing devil's advocate for the sake of it.

Did he kill those people? Probably as his actions pretty much just scream guilt. But this is still America and he's innocent until proven guilty.

LA is a horrible place filled with horrible people and horrible cops. People in LA are afraid to leave the house, regardless of race or gender. The way this quasi martial-law bullshit is unraveling it's just going to end up as another riot. Nobody riots like LA.

Agreed. People weren't even this paranoid when the D.C. Sniper was killing people. There was a certain amount of paranoia but the city wasn't locked down because of it. Business as usual. Target cops? The ones sworn to protect you? Shit goes crazy. Makes you realize your own vulnerabilities and weaknesses when you're in charge of so much responsibility.

Thanks for being brave enough to post something like that since I can't imagine being that afraid all the time let alone admit it. It's not just some police officers, it's all of them. Tell the chief of police what? That I'm prepared? He'd probably laugh while he tells you a story of how he never goes in to a bathroom with at least one gun. Our old police chief Patrick Ramsey used to teach a small seminar about Police Ethics and would always tell everyone a story of how he almost never takes off his backup weapon from his ankle holster because of a bathroom ambush in a public restroom.

He had taken his duty belt off and left it in a car to take a dump when two guys busted in and started shooting up the bathroom. He had his backup weapon still in his ankle holster so he yanked it and dropped them before he got shot. Stories like that circulate around the Law Enforcement cooler until training and even in-service re-certifications are based upon those exact scenario's. Mentally ill? I'd say more like we're just prepared for everything and extremely paranoid. You become numb to a lot of things. Police see the stuff of nightmares and most who stay in the profession for longer than 5 or 10 years can tell you and show you things that make your stomach do flips. Guaranteed the next in-service training we receive is probably attached to some whack job doing something; like when we started doing Active Shooter and Mass Casualty exercises right after Aurora and Sandy Hook. Now we'll have seminars and training for Police Corruption and Traitor Identification.

Oh and the scenario that I played out about the layout of my house isn't even the tip of the iceberg. I don't necessarily build my house around cross-fire zones (because my wife is the decorator and if I even mentioned trying to change something, she'd rip my heart out), I just constantly scan the place every time I walk through. Wife changed the orientation of the free sitting love seat in the middle of the room by 7 degrees West? Exposes my back to the door and window on the South-side of the house. Bad cover position. Hitting the couch a better cover position and offers more concealment.

Visualization is something any well-trained individual must do in order to maintain confidence in their abilities. It also lessens the chances of badly screwing up an incident. Adapt and overcome and plan ahead for everything. Walk in to a restaurant and notice where all the exit signs are, how thick the glass is on the storefront and where it's exposed, who's standing, who's sitting, who's hammered drunk, who looks like a cop, who looks like military, who looks like a badguy and what about their dress could conceal a weapon (also checking for bulges and exposed grips), and where your sitting that offers cover/concealment and all the escape routes. Table to the right is partially in the aisle leading towards the back of the store and the only non-exposed exit. A bad lane of travel for a quick exit. Redirect to the left side of the table; wider gap and less exposed for travel and a little more risky but a straight shot to the kitchen.

All that happens within a few seconds and it's all unconscious. Don't even have to think about it. Ask anyone who's law enforcement and military to think about that whole scenario I just put down and they'll probably agree that it just happens. Can't help it and can't stop it. It's training, paranoia, and survival all tied in to a very real thought process that it (danger) could happen at any moment.
