It has nothing to do with closed-mindedness, and everything to do with backing up your statements.

Since you asked. Here's one of the many people I follow regarding the issue, Dr. David Kennedy D.D.S. 20 year preventative dentist, former president of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. Here's a letter he wrote to the county of Santa Cruz, CA. This guy goes out of his way to scientifically prove that fluoridation of our water serves no purpose, and is also harmful. Also toothpaste, and many more products.

    http://www.nofluoride.com/kennedy_letter.cfm

Here's a movie he made on fluoridation and its effects.

Also a link to a Harvard study on children who had lower IQs because they lived in areas where the water was highly fluoridated.

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...-children.aspx

A good video also in that link w/Dr. Dean Burk who co-founded the US National Cancer Institute. (NCI) They did a study that compared the 10 largest US cities with and without fluoridation. Let's just say the results were not in fluorides favor, lol.

I'm usually really hesitant to share info like this, since people think I'm a nut who sits in his basement all day on conspiracy websites, but I do my research first. I just try to get it out there so people are aware. There's always the option to state the issue to your local politicians, but if there's so much money behind fluoridation, and the companies who push it, it's hard to get anywhere on it, sadly. :/

My apologies again for derailing. I'd love to make a thread in political poopdeck about info like this, but I'm sure I would get frowned upon and have it thrown in to the spam section. Would like a mod's opinion on said thread idea.

If you want people to watch an hour-long video, you should probably find one that doesn't begin with an elementary school rally led by a little girl reading a speech she doesn't understand

I really hate correlation studies. Scientific evidence, please. Evidence like autopsies showing people with high levels of fluoride in their serum... not "people are dumber in this area and there is fluoride so it must be connected". Do you have and idea how much other stuff they put in water?

I wouldn't dismiss her b/c of her age. She did her research, and if you listened to it, it's pretty valuable information. Information that can easily be found on the internet. Seriously, not even 3 mins in to the video and you're knocking it already??

The first 3 minutes should be the best 3 minutes of the entire thing, if you want people to keep watching past that.

This is what I was talking about when I threw out my "close-minded people on this forum" statement earlier, Kohan. I've seen people also talk about other issues that are usually tossed around as "batshit conspiracy theories" on this forum, and people tore in to them and laughed it off. But whatever, I tried. :/

Edit: Not saying these posters speak for the entire forum, just a majority, it seems. Anyone interested in more info on the issue can Google it for themselves.

I'm just saying, no one is going to watch an hour long video that starts out like shit. It it can't demonstrate that it's not retarded quickly, no one is going to waste their time.

She didn't research anything; that was written for her.

And whoever wrote it for her was pretty goddamn stupid to boot. How is any of this 'without representation'?

That said, I'm not outright knocking the quality of what may have followed, I'm telling you that I don't care enough to find out what followed. There could have been gold at the end of that rainbow, but the rainbow did a terrible job of dispelling the air of conspiracy

Be more open-minded. If it can't pull you in, you just need to stay regardless because that is what you do when you are open-minded.

I watched 3 minutes. The Professor from Kentucky talking about infant mortality makes zero sense; Singapore have 100% water fluoridation so what exactly is he getting at?

If you really think that little girl researched and wrote that speech herself then you have bigger worries than fluoridation.

Edit: with regards to the OP, I didn't study cancer treatments but had to sit in on some guest lecturers for one module at university and found some of the speakers really interesting. One of them was developing Platinum drugs that are completely inert until activated by a targeted beam of light as opposed to current chemo drugs for example cis-platin which is one of the most nauseating chemo drugs and can cause hearing loss as a side-effect.
