Hitting up Delmonico's if that's your sort of style. I've heard good things and I'm excited to try it out.
Not to hijack, but does anyone have a great idea for a dessert place? Or even any after dinner activity that doesnt involve freezing your balls off? Looking for something with a little more romance than anything, and we already hit up Max Brenner so Im hoping to find something a little more different.
bumping this cuz i am proposing to my broad in nyc next month and will want to go to a nice place for dinner that night (the proposal is not taking place at the restaurant). all of the suggestions in this thread are faggotry. Mortons? Ruthschris? come on bro, i dont dine at no highway rest stop steakhouses.
the fig and olive menu looks decent but there are 3 locations in NYC alone. Can i trust a restaurant with 3 locations in the same city?
eataly is supposed to be legit but it looks like an over crowded wop flea market
pete luger is in Brooklyn, I don't go hard.
Delmonico's looks like my dream come true but my vegetarian whore of a broad could take issue with it. also its way down at the bottom of manhattan and a nigga has to peep a broadway show like a fucking loser that night. IS IT WORTH IT?
Atlantic Grill looks like it has an extensive menu as well. right now atlantic is winning the race.
got my bro telling me to go to One if By Land Two if By Sea which looks p nice but is also way south and like i said, a nigga gotta go see spidey. thoughts?
what about mr chow? i heard the waiter chooses the meal for you. what kind of fucked up shit is that?
SOMEONE HELP
DON'T DO IT TYVEN!!!!!
god i wish.
also, hit a playa with some brunch spots! OM NOM NOM
I'm gonna ruin your day if you come here.
Considering the deterioration of places like lugers not being what it used to be and Morton's is probably better in nyc at this point, maybe you should reconsider your thought process. A lot of places have gone down hill and aren't too far above the chains like they used to be.
Capital Grille and one if by land are good choices though.
How upper crust we talking for dinner? http://le-bernardin.com/ Is right by the Foxwoods Theatre really, Just a few blocks up. Pricey end but out of this world delicious. If you wanna go full balls out classy as fuck and feel like traveling for it you can try to catch a reservation at http://perseny.com/ but that isn't the easiest, Worth the money though.
Actually now that I think of it those are both those places are pretty classy joints in terms of dress code etc but completely worth it, The vegetarian menu at per-se alone is fantastic.
good luck getting in le bernardin/per se, but it really is one of THE best if not THE best restaurant in NYC.
gl on the proposal! Should hide the ring in a block of meat. <3
I never had problems getting reservations for Le Bernardin, but the last time I went was a couple years ago before Eric Ripert started popping up on all these television shows. If you're into seafood, I'd recommend it.
Per se, on the other hand, is rough. At least in my experience. They only take reservations for the next 30 days and have seatings at certain times. The good times, around 7PMish, are camped like it's Dragon's Aery in 2005. Unless you want to eat at some weird time like 5PM or 9PM, you're going to want to be on open table exactly 30 days prior to March 29th especially since that date is a Friday.
Per Se is a good choice since they have a vegetarian tasting menu, but it's the same price as the regular tasting menu. I don't know how anyone can bring themselves to throw down $300 on a vegetarian tasting menu, but I guess you wouldn't be proposing if you didn't think she was worth it.
The vegetarian menu actually has some amazing food on it. Not as amazing as their regular menu but they definitely do the whole vegetarian thing well. I've never really had too much of an issue snagging reservations to these two places, I must be lucky. If only I could get so lucky for the Brooklyn Fare Chef's Table.

WANT.
I came to this thread to bitch about Morton's.
Fuck Morton's.
Hit up Le Bernadin or Jean Georges.
ALSO!
The Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare is fucking legit as balls. Easily top 3 meals of my life.
