GTX 760 is out, MSRP $250. The reviews I've read so far indicate there will *not* be a 760Ti, so I'm probably going to jump on this card.

Anyone have any strong recommendations for or against a particular brand? Amazon is sold out on every version. Newegg has Gigabyte, EVGA, MSi and Galaxy.

Reviews are looking great, excellent pricing as well. I am now thinking the 770 is probably overpriced with the 760 $150 less and bale to OC to stock 770 performance. I could go MSI, I have only used MSI cards and they have not disappointed me yet.

That said, AMD will probably wreck the 700 series when they refresh the 7000 series. I'd still go with the 760 since I am an Nvidia man.

I also read that Nvidia will not be releasing anymore SKUs this year after the 760.

I ordered the EVGA factory overclocked for $260. I don't know if that was the absolute best option or not but I don't have time to sweat it. Last time I was looking at a popular card it went out of stock the several weeks later it was back at $50-$70 over MSRP and I didn't want to play that game again.

Across the board the 760 is looking like a fantastic card for the price. I know the AMD refresh will be good, but Maxwell at 20nm should be really damn impressive as well.

Nvidia has confirmed there will be no 760Ti. (Not to say they couldn't change their minds, but yeah.)

I don't know if it will ship in time for me to get the card on Friday or if it will be next week.

Until the ACX cooler, I always recommended away from EVGA. But now that they have a decent cooler, they aren't so bad.

760 SLI would be really nice if the game supported it.

New drivers out, not much difference on the 780 but seems to improve anything under it.

Ran the bench mark and did well enough on medium settings (5859), but poorly on Maximum (1290).

My PC is, I think, around three years old. Without buidling an entirely new machine, are there any quick upgrades that would heavily boost my performance?

    Specs:

    OS: Windows 7, 64-bit
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
    Memory: 4 GB
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 240

I'm assuming everything is pretty much "good enough" except the video card, but I'd rather have someone who knows what they're talking about better than I do substantiate or debunk that before I waste money on a part that isn't really going to make a difference.

That looks like it's a prefab, so you'd need to check if it has PCI-E 2.0 or not, but then a moderate GPU upgrade would help. I haven't really had much chance to analyze the load balance of ff14, but your CPU isn't terrible. I'd pick up a second stick of 4gb ram if your computer has the slot for it, depending on if that's two sticks of 2 or one stick of 4 in there. Mostly because ram is generally cheap and you should see some gains from it.

I wish I knew more about computers to understand why when I upgrade the drivers on my GTX560 to anything aside from ghetto stock Windows drivers my score drops 400 points :\

I caved and installed the old 314.22 drivers and modified my inf to allow it to install with my 770. Holy balls it performs WAY fucking better than this new 320 shit they're rolling now. This is a 300 point increase.

haha Izzy... I just did the same with 320.49 BETA drivers...

And this time running at 1920x1080 instead of my usual 1920x1200. I think I've reached the limited of my 780.

[Edit: Somehow there was a conflict between the NVIDIA Res or the Windows Res, fiddled around for awhile again and got rid of the "error". Not worth posting the score, my laptop run posted yesterday did better... Replace my little GT 610 and up my RAM some, should be cool.]

And a contribution from my laptop for just becauses...

GTX 760 (EVGA Overclocked) = 5529 on max settings, 1920x1200. I didn't think to do a 1080p run and will do that in the morning.

This is coming from a 5850 that got 3943 on the same settings. With the 5850, the CPU (i7 860) sat at around 20% (spiking sometimes to 40%). With the 760, the CPU sits between 40-60%, sometimes spiking to 80%. I was planning to do a CPU upgrade to Haswell later this year.

That seems a little low to me, but I'm not sure how under-utilized the i7 860 is. Maybe try some different drivers? I'd think you'd at least be in the mid-6000s,no?

My query is this.. I am about to run the benchmark again on my MSI GTX 780, I've tweaked the fan curve so it stays a nice 61c before OC.

Which driver is touted as the best for the GTX 780? 314, 320.14, 320.18 or BETA 320.49.

Feedback would be great, want to see how high I can score :D

I've only tested with two drivers so far. 320.18 and 320.49 BETA. Not going to bother with other drivers lol too much work.

OC'd your MSI GTX 780 and let us know how it runs. Temps and OC info will also be useful for others.

I'm not sure if this will work with your 780 but I was having a good run with odd numbers for OC'd. GL

I had to go back to 320.18. The 314 drivers kept causing the driver to crash and restart, so FFXIV/whatever game I was playing would still be running, but I couldn't see anything.
